Your fable worked well with the whale being the granter of wishes. A good moral to your story, and one that many people don't understand until itbis too late as in this case.

Yep, but it doesn't mean one can't be happy and have lots of money too, there are stories of generous rich men that have/give away 90% of what they earn. It's really only the love of money that does that. But your story is great, the fisherman deserved what he got, blessings Roy

Love your whale tale and the greedy fisherman. Life is not about material possessions, wealth or the young wife. I like the talking whale, maybe we need to listen more to the whales. Excellent writing here that flows smoothly and holds the reader's interest. Best wishes for the contest.

I get what you're going for here but I don't think you've quite pulled it on. It's a rehash of many old fable - salmon of knowledge, wish fish etc.
Also the greed is the root of evil isn't proven here. The only aspect of the moral that's true is that possessions don't make you happy.
The writing though is on par and flows well.

A fine tale which would be good for children as well as adults. It is well-written, has pace and of course a moral at the end which is a strong one regarding the fact that greed in its turn can bring misery.
