This is a great tanka, Gypsy. The picture show the deep blue bloom of the Sea Holly with the ocean. Better still are your words which tied the bond between the two. Very well done and greatly enjoyed. Blessed Be n Hugs!!!

The combination of colours, words and text works very well to give an overall mood of contemplation. The footnotes are very interesting. There seems a rise in the popularity of these Japanese forms.

These grow in Scotland on the beaches and I believe Shakespeare wrote about them too. I prickly plant, and your write concentrates on the waves here, love Dolly x

That's so pretty! I wonder if sea holly plants are related to teasel plants. Then you would have two meanings of "tease."
I like how the "~ coming and going ~" of the waves "tease" the logical sense of the narrator.
