Great poem. I enjoyed reading this. Very nicely done. Well done with your rhyming pattern, and your words flowed nicely. I especially like your verse nature's songs are symphonies. How true this is. The artwork was beautiful and went well with your poem. Thank you for sharing.

What a beautiful poem, using poetic devices very creatively. The meter and rhyme help to make it beautiful, but for me, it is the thought running through it that makes it outstanding. I hope it wins. It's a winner for me.

As soon as I saw the picture, I said, let's see how many of these avians can I name? And then your poem helped a little. I wonder if that will be a consistent theme as read? Hmm.

This poem, Their Healing, Joyful Songs, presented with seven AABB-rhymed quatrains, recalls some truly wonderful times of learning the sounds of birds and appreciating them in bonding moments with your dad. So cool.

Lovely. I really enjoyed this, as I do birdsong. Though ours are a bit different over here in the UK. There is a late evening call the blackbird makes which always reminds me of being out to play as a child and having excitedly gone beyond the usual call-in time from my parents who must have forgotten - that call is always an instruction to me to keep a low profile so I can stay out longer, playing outside. Forgive my indulgence - back to the review: you have mastered the poetic structure, the poem scans well and the rhymes don't feel forced. I like the order in which you have arranged the birds with the mourning dove later on and just before your father's death. That renders the poem nicely sequential with the phases of a day echoing the phases of life. I'd give you six stars but I seem to have run out. I hope you win, you deserve to.

Good morning, Wyon!
Thank you for your excellent rating and thoughtful review.
So very pleased my offering resonated with you.
For me, it's the call of the Barred Owl and the mournful song of the Mourning Dove that carry me back to my childhood. A lifetime of song...
Thank you ever so much!

Loved the rhyming! I, too, learned the Bobwhite's song as a child taught by my father. Even though our life is full of strife, we can always look to the beauty of nature of cheer us up. We can learn to appreciate a lot from enjoying the beauty of nature.

Yes. "Nature's songs are symphonies sung from branches and from the breeze." It took me to my deer stand, alone until the rise of the wind flirts with the branches. And certainly the use of the word spell, as if hypnotic and directing our thoughts...spot on. Memorable.
