I really enjoyed your rhyming poem about lighthouses. It was rather lyrical and rich in its description especially 'The guardian light with flashing eyes.'
Thanks so much for sharing your lovely poem.

This is short, sweet and to the point. In only four lines, you paint a very visual and detailed picture of the lighthouse and its purpose. Your rhymes and meter work very well, and there's not a wasted word or syllable. Very nice job!

This is very nice and well crafted. I am surprised to hear that they are still building lighthouses. I guess, that old saying is true. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
notes:
Man against {nature,time} against tide
- add space in between

There are very few new lighthouses these days as navigation has improved on the boats and ships. It must have been greatly needed and your poem is a tribute to the safety on the sea, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Thanks Dolly. It was more precisely a re-conditioning of the lighthouse. A nice paint job and new lanterns for the light.
Anyway, I am glad you enjoyed the poem. Have a great day.

Barry, this is one fine four-line poem. It is too bad there is no rhyming contest for four-line poems. I love how it reads out loud; you have great imagery and a visual message. Excellent! Terry.

Thank you for sharing this reminder with us of the importance of lighthouses. I do understand their importance. We have visited many during our travels. My husband and I are fascinated by them.

I think this is an outstanding poem. I admit that I am particularly fond of rhyming poems but this one also has excellent meter and gorgeous imagery. It's altogether wonderful.

Now I'm curious. Where do you live? I love lighthouses and could only find this on the wonderful world wide web:
"NEWEST SHORESIDE LIGHTHOUSE is Sullivan's Island in Charleston, SC, 1962."
Clearly, there is a newer one!
Your 8/8/9/9 syllable count works very well, as does your AABB rhyme scheme.
More than that, you capture the literal beacon of hope for many a wandering mariner...

Karenina,
Thanks for taking the time to read and review my poem. Glad you enjoyed it. I live on the South Coast of New South Wales, Australia.
The lighthouse was more precisely "re-conditioned" Like new. It was already there but needed a large touch up to make it sparkle again.
Take care and have a great day.

Australia! Somewhere on my bucket list, I fear I'll never get to! I do love to visit lightouses. There are a few for sale to private owners here in the states! Wouldn't that be something?
-
Now that would be something. Hope you do get down here. You will see plenty of lighthouses. All the best.

Same to you!

The author's words are engaging, descriptive and creative. I found these
words to be so true. I like how this author gave credit to the Light House.
I find we don't realize how important that light is! The poem flows and
connects well. The artwork is awesome and goes well with these words.

You did a great job with your tribute to lighthouses,
Barry. The art choice was perfect I liked the rhymes and
the personification of the lighthouse. Your poem read
smoothly, too. I did not know new lighthouses were built.
line 3 a space is needed after nature
Thanks for sharing, Jan
