Isn't that exactly what is so wonderful about the writer and imagination - it can take us places where we long to go - longing for Spring is indeed a sentiment at this time of year

Wonderful entry for the Bring Spring! writing prompt Contest. Your poem has good rhyme and meter that doesn't sound forced. Beautiful spring imagery and presentation. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you so much for reading my poem. :)

In this deep cold of winter, you take us to a place of warmth and beauty. Your details lead us through a springtime garden, and make it easy for the reader to imagine a world without ice and snow.

My sentiments exactly, after that arctic blast. I live in North Carolina, and we had the coldest Christmas in 33 years. Went down to 14, which is cold for us. I liked how used this upbeat meter and ringing traditional rhyme scheme to create a poem in the pastoral romantic genre that looks over the head of winter at the joys of the coming spring. Lots of color, texture and sound to your poetic images. estory

Beautiful poem, reflecting the excitement of anticipation for warmer days. I like the strong words which drive the point and the solid rhyming pattern.
Well done

Although those Minnesota winters seem to last forever (as I was informed on a review reply from another poem about Minnesota winters) t your line brought back the previous spring:
The memories of springtime that I hold
are bringing me to warmer days long past.
You then went on to discuss lilacs fragrance, trees foliage, waterways, grass, birds singing, etc.
Nicely composed. John

Sharon, this is perfectly beautiful. A lovely taste of spring in the lilacs I know you love. Your favorite, if I remember correctly. Sending you my best today as always, and my very best wishes for the upcoming contest.

This is the second poem I've come across today that is begging for spring. It seems like we always want the season we either have coming next or just passed. It is hard to function in the brutal cold of this season. Here's to the warm breezes of spring. Thank you for posting. Gretchen

This is a good one, Boogie. You got me thinking about spring already. We have some cold winters here in Maine, but not as cold as yours in Minnesota.

Thank you for this great review. My dad was from Maine, I've always wanted to see it. :)

None of us can wait until springtime. The flowers will creep through the snow and display the daffodils and bluebells; then come the violets with their colors galore. Like your poem.
