This happened five years before I was born, but I have heard about it all my life. It was a terrible, terrible thing. All those beautiful lives were lost forever. Best of luck in the contest.

How strange it is to see the great become small, Earl. Yet, it took many lives for them to gain understanding. Still, the US is helping those that are below us. Have you every thought that in helping them we are doing what they did in 1941? They do not forget, for they loss many with those bombs. thank you for sharing.

My father served three years of combat in WWII, so I appreciate your words. You capture that day clearly in your vivid use of words. I admire your rhyming of words which adds strength to your theme. "The Japanese woke a sleeping giant" is a wonderful life and so true.

Whoever made the fateful decision to attack the United States displayed a shocking lack of knowledge of us and our citizens. The old saying of never poke a sleeping lion, tiger, bear or any other ferocious animal was not an invention, or made up story. Very few people have ever survived the outcome of violating this warning.

A very thoughtful tribute and remembrance of a tragic day in U.S. history. If you are still able to tweak, consider dropping "ever" in the last line to get the meter of those last two lines closer to in sync without harming the meaning. Well done. Good luck in the contest.

To remember and honor the 2,403 Americans who were killed in the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii on December 7, 1941, which led to the United States declaring war on Japan the next day and thus entering World War II. Inspirational poem.

Earl, an outstanding poem. And, Amen, let us hope that America never forgets the lessons of Pearl Harbor. Thank you for writing this to honor all of those who served. Terry.

This is a good entry to the Remembering Pearl Harbor contest. It is a day we must never forget. They had the audacity to bring the fight to the USA. The text is a great size. The message is clearly written. They in the end lost this most by this one crazy, erratic decision. My brother and I are Vets. He served in Vietnam, and I served in the American sector behind the Berlin Wall. Thanks for your service and for writing this poem.

This is a reminder of a sad day that led to many more sad days for us, and for Japan. You are so right - it was their biggest mistake.
A nice tribute to veterans of this war and Americans, and others around the world, who suffered because of it. And thank YOU for your service!
Good luck with the contest.
