That is one tough bird.
Next year the shotgun! Even if you have to boil him to tender.
Eat fried chicken and turkey stew.
Danged bird, anyway!
Best wishes.

Lol. Yep, the shotgun would have been a much better choice. Haha. Thank you for the great review and generous stars, Wayne.

How cleverly written is this poem? It is really cute about the Tom Turkey that caught you off guard. If this was real, it would not be so hilarious, but a person cannot help smiling when you're reading your poem.

Terrific job, Roy! So humorous and such perfect meter and rhyme. This would make a great country music song and reminds me of Charlie Daniels' "The Devil Went Down to Georgia."

Thank you for sharing this Thanksgiving writing prompt entry with us. I smiled as I read. This was wonderful. I am pretty sure the turkey wasn't interesting in being the main course, or any course for that matter. Oh, so cute!!

THis is a great poem--skillfully written with good rhyme and meter, timely, entertaining, and so funny. Ramen noodle soup~~what a poor substitute for turkey! LOL!

Thank you so much for such a fun poem and the opportunity to really laugh in a year filled with pain.
The humour is truly only for the observer not the victim so, I'm still smiling.
Perfectly constructed with rhyme and meter spot on and the image is just right.
Blessings

A witty and engaging Thanksgiving romp. The humor is warm, and the narrative stays on point. The rhymes are unforced. The images are clear. The last verse is a wonderful ending ( though not for the narrator).
Thanks for a good read.

LoL ! This was a great story poem and well rhymed with consistent meter. The best part was the humor of a turkey not willing to be sacrificed to become Thanksgiving dinner. Loved the ramen noodle soup ending! Best wishes in the contest!!

I must admit that your poem made me laugh. It was a funny telling of being bested by a turkey and ending up feasting on ramen noodles. Thank you so much for sharing, and best wishes to you.
