Ciao!
Your opening verse shows us how precarious life is.
In a blink of an eye, one can die.
A single step can make the difference between life and death.
I read about the loss of your child and I can only imagine how hard it must be everyday for you to get up and live.
We all know that we will die but for a parent to have to bury her own daughter ( or son) is not how it should go.
You believe in God so every day that passes takes you closer to your daughter , this belief hopefully brings you some comfort.
Take care!

I sense the beauty and the pain of your writing. Parting is very painful but the beauty in hanging on to the memories is comforting and gratifying. There are many "What Ifs" in Living and in this life we may never get the answers.
Without a hope of a better tomorrow, without a faith in life everlasting, a faith in the good vrs the bad and then choosing to move on daily seeking to focus on happiness rather than sadness and using our God given abilities with His help to share experiences living life with an aim to encourage and motivate others positively. "Amazing Grace does make a difference".
You have a gift of words and you have used them in your poem to uniquely express your thoughts using the life and fate of a Ground Hog and moving on in prayerful conversation to God our Father about your daughter filled with emotion and a desire as a Mother to protect and enjoy the times that may have been, could have 'Only If". Please know that in spite of your pain you are blessed to be a blessing. Thank you for sharing for I lost a sister when I was ten and she was six and even though you never forget or ever stop missing the relationship you can chose to use the value of life to live on seeking 'peace' knowing that tomorrow is not promised here but life everlasting is promised to "believers" enabling us to meet again. Christians have a future. All is not lost . Keep seeking. Keep sharing.

A beautiful bittersweet poem, very well written. My heart goes out to you over the loss of your daughter. As parents we are not suppose to out live our children. I know what that is about. ((Hugs))

This is a sad and philosophical poem about premature birth and death. Like the groundhog, your daughter died sooner than she should have. Sorry for your loss.
I like the word ifness. It implies the questions of life and death.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy

Thank you for you review. She didn't die as a baby. She died at 22, but what does it matter~dead is dead.
-
You're welcome. I think any time before old age is premature death.

Beautiful, deep, sentient and totally spot on. I love the way you made the groundhog the catalyst for the ensuing depth. It triggers the perfect familiarity (we've all had a similar thought. But you expanded (and expounded] on it. beautifully!

She died May 2006, so she is back with him. It was mentioned in the AN. Thanks for the review,

I'm blind, and must've missed that. I'm so sorry. Please accept my condolences. Blessings, Sal XOs

She didn't die as a baby. She died at 22, but it doesn't matter because dead is dead. No apology needed.

This is a well written and powerful write about fate and how we navigate the world in order to survive and there is a plea here for future generations to take care and live well, stop and take stock and enjoy life. I wish I had a six for you as this is a skilfully written free-write, one of the best I've read, a winner for the contest me-thinks, love Dolly x

This was a wonderful poem. It was full of the uncertain feelings of motherhood and life in general. I'm so sorry to read about your daughter's passing. Life is fickle and fragile. We cling to hope and try to go on. Beautiful and tragic poem. Gretchen

Wow, this is a genuine well written poem. I can tell by your writing that you put some time and effort and heart into this beautifully written work. Poems like this really stir up our emotions and they touch our hearts and that's what poetry is supposed to do. I'm sorry that God took your little Angel so soon, precious little baby but God saw fit and He does no wrong. You can see her again one day. Great writing and beautiful poem, love Rena. ð???ð??¾ð???ð???ð??¾
