Thank you for sharing this Haibun with us. I because a few years ago. They were popular on the site. Everybody was writing them. Not so much now, for some reason.
The new patient sits next to me at the edge of me (because of the definition of 'next to' and 'beside', when it's people it should read 'patient sits beside me' )

Hello,
Barbara, I don't know why fanstorians don't write more Japanese Poetry, I love it. Haibun is a great type of poem. How wonderful of you to take the time to read and review my haibun. I am happy you like it. Have a great day.

I loved that film, and those people are vulnerable and need to be protected from society. Mental illness used to be a stigma but so many people suffer from some kind of mental illness these days that it has become commonplace, your words here say it all, love Dolly x

What a sad story of three long paragraphs of prose and one Haiku sums it up with eleven syllables.
It's a unattractive life there. You did a good job describing it. I need to see the movie but I'm not sure I want to after reading this piece.
Well done.

I should write a note in my author notes section. The haibun and the movie are not related, other than it's about a mental hospital and how mentally ill people may feel. I just like the picture and the title.
Thank you very much, I am happy you like it. Have a great day.

I like your nutty Haibun poem- good picture presentation of the Asylum- scrambled words lends itself to the theme- pointing out how disjointed they are in that environment- where meditation keeps the piece in an open setting- keeping displays of aggression to a minimum - for the safety of all - patients and caregiver as well. "A brief moment in life" - is probably optimistic- sadly- good job

I loved the picture, it was a group picture of 'one flew over the cuckoo's nest,' Gypsy. This was a great haibun. It showed the path of the mentally ill. Thank you for providing the information. Blessed Be n Hugs!

1) I loved that movie.
2) Great Idea to turn it into a post like this.
3) Quicksand mind is a great concept.
Question: Did you purposely misuse the verb on the predicate adjective?
I wish I were dead is the correct form, not I wish I was dead. I assume you did it on purpose.

"When I wake up is visitation time" should be when I wake up it is visitation time".
This is funny but for all the wrong reasons. Sort of like an anti-social teenager lol. Very Sylvia Plath. But at the end we realize this is to be taken seriously after all with the 800 number, etc.

This haibun, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, makes me feel that the speaker is not really crazy, like McMurphy in the story. In that case, the apparent numbness of the disturbed mind does not buffer the cruel realities of the institution.
Found this: When I wake up (it) is visitation time...

This is a very interesting form that I would like to try one day. The topic you chose is a tough one: society still has a long way to go to fully accept mental illness without prejudice.
I saw the film for the first time not long ago and I found it bittersweet. Really good.
Very well written and classy as usual.
