Hello Rhonda.
Wonderful to see you back and with such a marvelous flash story.
I like the double meaning of the actual tree
and the metaphorical implication of a person.
Touch is one of the most important senses.
Perfect picture choice of the Milea Mountain Village
with the great tree in the center.
Well done, my friend.
Best wishes.
Robert

Robert, thank you so much for reading and reviewing my story. The beautiful six stars on a Saturday night are heart warming.
As you know, I've often struggled with the very short pieces, but decided to go for it anyway. Pam encouraged me to pick a prompt or contest to get my feet wet again, and I took her up on it. It feels good!!
I appreciate your detailed review. You are always so good at picking specifics out, and that is very helpful. You've also, always been good at looking beneath the surface. Great job and thanks,
Rhonda

Oh, Rhonda, how glad I am that you're back once again. I always love to read your writing and this is no different. It's such a lovely story and the sentiment is universal. All the best in the contest. It should do well. Hugs, Ulla:)))

Hi Ulla!! Thanks for reading and reviewing, my dear friend! We have known each other a long time on this site.
I have been distracted from writing, and I'm not quite sure why, to be honest. I couldn't find inspiration. I hope that has changed now.
I've also gotten woefully behind on reading as well. Do you have any new novels going?
Thanks again,
Rhonda

Yes, we have known each other for a long time on this site. I'm writing book two of the Fisherman's Son, but I won't post a chapter today. Instead, I will post a very short and final update on a very sad story which has been ongoing in my family in America. The first two parts are in my portfolio. They are all very short. Hugs

Thank you Ulla! I will check out the short pieces!
I?m glad to reconnect!
XOXO

You established this poignant connection between beings here, in a really short space. I liked the metaphor of the two different beings, the girl and the tree. It really can symbolize the gulf of differences between people or generations, and it deepens the meaning of the piece in a subtle, almost surreal kind of way. Nice imagination in the concept, good execution in the construction, a nice sense of style in the writing here. estory

Wow, estory, what a wonderful six star gift!! Thank you, and you absolutely nailed the multiple meanings, while providing specific critique. If I could review your review, you'd get a six for sure.
Thank you so very much,
Rhonda

Excellent, Rhonda, glad to see something new from you. It's been a long time. Hope you're doing well. And if I was a tree, I'd be a flowering wuss tree!

Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. I have often wished, old trees, barns, old houses, and things like that could talk. I feel they would have wonderful stories and should be told. I enjoyed reading and wish you the best of luck.

Thank you for the review, Barbara. You?re right about old barns and houses. That would make a great poem or story!

I have often thought about trees and wonder if they have feelings or not. Does it hurt when they are cut down and sawed into lumber? How much life do they observe standing in one spot forever? Nice story. Best of luck in the contest.

Thank you for your review! I've always admired trees, and felt they could tell some tales. If not cut down, they can be there for centuries. I appreciate the review and comments.
Take care,
Rhonda

Hi Rhonda,
I liked this. There is something about trees and your personification gives breath to that notion. It's a good point of view and carries through well in this piece.
All the best

What a dynamite entry in the 80-word flash fiction contest. I love your use of personification of the tree and the wisdom of the young child's smile. I hope this gets the attention it deserves. By the way, I haven't seen you on my queue for some time now. Have you been away? At any rate, it's good having you back now. Good luck with the contest.

Thank you for the review, and comments, Jay. I have peeked in now and then lately, but haven't posted for a while. I don't know why, but have been chasing that elusive Muse for ages. A friend on here challenged me to write something there was a contest for to give me a focus. I took the challenge, and here we are. I hope to keep it up!
For a while, I was following your script, but have fallen behind. I'll try to catch up.
Good to hear from you,
Rhonda

This is a lovely story about the personification of a tree and the admiration of a small child. You got a lot of feeling into only 80 words. Well done and best of luck in the flash fiction contest.

Thank you for the review and comments, Carol. I love trees, and wanted a unique perspective to express and idea. I'm glad the meaning came through.
Take care,
Rhonda

Nice story given the restrictions; I mean 80 words is tough. It would be hard to be a tree, so dependent on others, only able to touch as far as their roots can reach. I guess unless your an Ent. They are pretty cool in Lord of the Rings and very mobile.
