Your story starts out humorous, but soon turns to a current subject that is serious and needs to be understood. A loving mother evolves over a period of years from confusion to acceptance, with dialogue that is compassionate and realistic. Best wishes in the contest.

Thank you so much for your understanding and compassionate review. I know some families who have gone through this journey with their children, and it is not like so many inexperienced or uneducated people think it is. The parents struggle and fight, but some ultimately give in to do what is best for their child. The decision is never made on the spur of the moment for someone to transition or to have surgery. It's a long process for everyone.
Thank you so much again for your review and comments. Hugs.

You captured my attention and kept it throughout the piece. It's impressive that you managed to do that with just dialogue. Thank you for choosing to share this story here.

thank you. It is especially satisfying to get such a nice review on something that I had a hard time doing. Hugs.

Well written. Good work.
"you have called the right place - cap 'You'
There are at least eight other words that either begin sentences, or represent sentences that should be capitalized.
Best wishes.

Thank you for letting me know about those capitalizations. I am totally blind, and when I read through it, it doesn't tell me if they are capital or not, but it just reads the word. I will have to go through each sentence letter by letter. I appreciate that you pointed it out. Hugs.

I can relate to this story. I went to school with a girl named Barbara and she was always a bit strange. I met her again years later and she was a he. She had a sex change operation and her name is Brandon now. You would never guess that he was once she. Nice work.

Thank you. I know several people who identify as transgender, and I used some of there experiences as background for this piece. I appreciate your kind review. Hugs.

Well, this is certainly a hot topic to write about. I will not judge it on the context. I will advise that it is clearly one-sided and sounds like a video from a transgender group. Now, if you are for this, then you will jump for joy, but if you are neutral and non-biased, it sounds like I said. But if that's what you're going for then okay.
I would look at the dialogue towards the end, at times you drop capitalizations beginning your sentences.
"So you are saying that there's a 50% chance that Becca will try to kill her self if I don't support her?"
"Technically, it's a little over 50% of a chance according to the statistics. But you can change that."
- My God, that sounds so manipulative, and I thought the lie until it is no longer a lie to you was bad. I would rethink this.
Overall, a well done entry. I wish you good luck.

Thank you for pointing out my capitalization mess ups. I hate when that happens. I will fix promptly.
I got these statistics from a longitudinal study done over many years. I can't remember the exact numbers off the top of my head as far as dates, but that's what it said. The "fake it till you make it" Philosophy is one I have heard several times. The idea is that for many parents and families, they cannot wrap their heads around their child being transgender, but that ultimately, family support is one of the most critical, if not the most critical, component in this situation.
I am sure that each families journey is different, but I just wanted to showcase one possibility. Thank you for reading and reviewing! Hugs.
