This is a side of the Irish character that brings joy and it's good to be reminded of it as St Patrick's Day approaches. Your short poem dances its own merry jig as it dances sprightly, line to line.

This poem, Proud Irish, brings all the readers into the feeling of good fun and pride as this salute to The Irish allows us all to smile with Irish eyes.

This is a delightful little jingle that describes the power and strength of Irish pride years later, even if you're unfamiliar with distant ancestors. So proudly wear your Irish green on St. Patrick's Day. Best wishes in the contest.

This is beautiful. I love everything Irish and would love to visit Ireland some day. On St. Patrick's Day I am always Irish (smile).
Amazing imagery, visuals, presentation, and I love your color green.
These stood out:
But, on St. Patrick's Day
My heart always longs
For the land I've never seen.

We all have family spread all over the world, author. We have in us an urge to see new lands and meet different people. This is great, but problems arise when we want those people to be like us. This is a good entry for Irish Green Contest. Thank you for sharing.

I tip my mug of beer to you; Lest you lose yourself and then
Forget the good Saint Patrick And see all those snakes again."
Not a happy toast so don't forget Saint Patrick... I've forgotten all about St. Patrick's day. Looking forward... yours, diana

To wear green is the style for the Irish. Drink green beer or dance the jig like the shamrock in your image. (Could you delete the space above the select your rating?)
What are the lyrics to 'Danny Boy'? Oh, Danny Boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling from glen to glen, and down the mountainside, The summer's gone, and all the roses falling, it's you, it's you must go, and I must bide. But come ye back when summers in the meadow, Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow,

Unless all your family emigrated, which is unlikely, you most definitely will have relatives in Ireland. We all have family in different parts of the world if we'd like to trace them, I know I have some in America, Australia, New Zealand and Africa, and I've not seen any of them! I've still got many here in the UK.
I liked your poem for the Irish Green contest, it's a lovely rhyming, bouncy Irish song! Well done and good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

Very well done on this poem about the Irish. As near as I know most of my ancestors came from Ireland, but I have never been privileged to visit there. I hope you do well in the contest.
