I can see why this was a contest winner. Everyone who has ever owned and loved a pet (especially a dog) will read this and weep. I'm a dog lover. You have summed up so beautifully, how we all want to imagine our dog's voice. Moving stuff.

A very beautiful and touching poem. I absolutely loved the last line of the poem. The artwork also adds to the appeal of the poem. Very well done.
With regards

We've got the paw prints of 12 cats, and 4 dogs firmly imprinted on our hearts, we remember every quirky mannerism and adorable way they had about them, as different as any human being, well done, blessings Roy

AWESOME! Yes, Mystery Author, pets give love unconditionally. Your contest entry is well thought out with good rhymes and formatting. Your true words create great imagery of life with one's pet and the bond between owner and dog.
Best wishes.
Respectfully, Jan

This is a wonderful love story, one you don't hear everyday. Pets are fantastic, dogs, cats, it doesn't matter. They add so much to life. Best of luck in the contest. :)

Love this last line: For my paw prints are now forever, imprinted on your heart.
Framing the poem from the dog's point of view is most effective.
One suggestion: When our eyes first met, I knew that this is (was) love..
A heart-wrenching poem that many animal lovers will be able to identify with. Well done.

This is a lovely rhyming poem about the bond shared between man/woman and their dog. Though, for me first/hurt aren't a good rhyme, it really doesn't matter in the context of this write. I love the final line, and it is so true. Good luck in the contest.
cheers.
