This is a wonderful and very thoughtful addition to the book of idioms, Jan. Until you pointed them all out, I'd never thought about how many ways the word 'think' is used in idioms. Thanks for enlightening us!

Thinking about Thinking, got me thinking, and one of the things I thought was that thinking, in the different iterations, was hit or miss in the idiom department.

No wonder we stop at times and ask ourselves "What was I thinking". Our minds are constantly swirling, wondering what this meant or how that one thought, that we actually have little time to gather under that big blue sky and enjoy without thinking.

This idiom book just keeps on going and I glad because idioms are fun and this chapter has got me to thinking. I'm sure that brain of ours is always involved in some kind of thinking but to often we don't give enough to what we say. Thank you for including another chapter.

Thank you for this fun reflection on idiomatic expressions we use with the verb "think." I remember the "thinking cap" and that little story about the Little Engine That Could. Thanks for reminding us about these!

What a treat, Jan!
And yes, I, too, think about thinking all the time, AND I think TOO MUCH!
But these days, I find myself saying "What were they thinking?" over and over again! And I don't need to "put on my thinking cap" to answer that question! :)

Thank you for sharing!

I agree with the 'what were they thinking' esp with the PC mess.

A clever essay. I didn't realize how many idioms were related to thinking. I never heard 'blue sky thinking', but it sounds like a reference to happy days?

Thank you for dropping by with a great review. That idiom, blue sky thinking, means not to settle for what is normally acceptable--to think about more possibilities. Where I live, the city motto is 'The Sky's the Limit.' (maybe it mean something similar.

Thanks for the answer. I know a few people who can be accused of blue sky thinking.

It's sad what you are presenting in this story, but unfortunately so true. Sometimes we look back and ask what did I choose that? But we need to live with our choices. Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings.
