This is so very sad and how a Mother can abandon her child like that is unbelievable. My Mother was not maternal and didn't really want children, she went on to have four! At least we were not abandoned, a very sad write, love Dolly x

Yeah it was sad hearing about what my mom went through, but 33 years later they were reunited. It?s a long story, but my mom turned out to be pretty amazing. Thank you so much for the review

This poem describes the feelings of being adopted well. But, it doesn't follow the format. It needs to be two four line stanzas and one five line stanza.
Good luck in the contest.

I have never written this type of poetry before, I separated the lines so that it would be an easier read. But I went ahead and clumped them together in the stanzas. Thank you for letting me know.

You're welcome. Glad I could help.

This is a very touching poem of a child of three not having a family, never known his mom and dad. It is so sad, although it has a happy ending when someone adopted him. And so sad to happen to your mom. Good luck in the contest! Ver

very powerful poem about the pain of growing up adopted. the traumatic childhood memories shine throughout this somewhat dark tribute to finding one's family.

I found the free flow of your poem unforced, making a smooth read. Missing the loving parental care from childhood could be an experience hard to overcome, and a great turning point in one's life. Thanks for sharing your world, and good luck in the contest. Lol.

This is a wonderful poem. Makes me cry with joy, that he has a home now, after the hardships. Wishing you the best in your future writing.

Great job with your rondel poem and what a great story you told in your poem. Someone who is adopted into a loving family can really appreciate that love. I was sad to hear about your mother's experience but I'm sure a lot of healing took place when she had her own family.
Best wishes in the contest!

What a heartbreaking thought your mother carried throughout her life, Mystery Author. You did a good job expressing your thoughts and feelings in your contest entry. Your words read smooth though poignant.
Imagine this happens to others more times than not. Your repeated line works well to emphasize the dilemma.
Best wishes in the contest.
Respectfully, Jan

I don't know many adopted people but, I've seen the shows and felt the constant tension just finding out where you belong. I think you did a fantastic job in writing this. It helps the rest of us understand.

Thank you so much Kiwi, I think it?s hard to find a place to belong in general let alone feeling abandoned. Thank you for your awesome review

This is a very good poem for this contest, good luck. The way you flow the poem is really good, even with the repeats it just flows from one thought to the other seamlessly. A job well-done.
