These are very well-known phrases if you are into Forbes magazine, too. Being wealthy has its pros and cons. I think about the Scrooges of today and wonder if they are happy? Some turn to drugs because of boredom; they have lots of money and they can buy whatever they want.

A very clever entry into the collective idiom book. If there was a prize for number of well-placed idioms, I think you would win the prize. Fun and enjoyable, you've done a great job with the theme.
Take care,
Rhonda

This was really well done, Jan. You used SOOO many different money idioms and told a whole story in dialogue, too. I think this would be really good for teaching English. Thanks for the entry!

Thank you, Helen, for taking time to review.
There were a bunch more I could have used
and still be writing today.

This is clever, and reminds me a bit of some of Lisa May's short stories. You chose idioms based on a certain theme, just as she used theme-related puns. I enjoyed the way you managed to fit your idioms logically into the story.
I also respect that, while your character had his head in the clouds, you brought him back to earth and to reality in the end.

I'm amazed at how you wove all these idioms into an amusing story. That took a lot of effort on your part. I'm familiar with all of them, and we say them all the time, part of everyone's every day language.

You did a good job of getting twenty-two idioms/clichés into a story that made their meanings clear. You also added the dictionary meaning, so you have done it all. Good job. And very interesting.
