I'm 74 years old and I find it amazing how many people say It's too early to plan for the end of my life. I just wonder, how long do they think I'm really going to live? I'm not arguing with your poem, it's just that, I believe I've made all the decisions, good or bad, myself. I believe I've done the best I could, and I have no regrets. I wish you well.

Hi Victor- you have me beat by a couple of years. No regrets! We come in on our first breathe and leave on our last. In between we love, love, laugh, cry ...

Your reply, JLR, you have another poem in the making.
Comment from Eunice Amero
Simple little poem with lots in it. It's a fearful thing to die with the Lord. God tells us it's a fearful thing to fell into the hands of an angry God. I hope you found Him. Thank you for sharing your poem. Good Luck.

Excellent entry for the 8 Words or Less Poem contest. Good word count and connection between lines. Thinking about death would make me quiver too.

A rhyming 8 worder here and you created an atmosphere of reluctance in death here, as we feel fear if we have the chance to anticipate death, a chilling write, love Dolly x

Teri, thank you profusley for your six stars. I have been away from my writing for a while and it is comforting to know I can get a good repsonse. Be well!

This is a fantastic artwork by Renate-Bertodi and it fills the bill as far as this eight words or less poem is concerned! I don't understand the meaning of the title and the line above it.
I like the rhymes of rivers and quivers very much! Yet, it is hard to understand what the meaning of the actual poem is about. I am sorry but I still wanted to give you a sixer even though I don't understand it at all!
Have a wonderful day,
And take good care of yourself and don't let the quivers get to you!

Jesse, my goodness! Thanks much! The title, for me, is simply that unprepared ... Our life is simply a juxtaposition between first and last breathes on this plane and yet we affect so many souls along our journey. I am ready, yet trying always to fully prepare for the end if one can truly be prepared.

Very potent JLR. The insight to truth and the inevitable is daunting indeed, yet, it is also calming in the knowledge that we have come so far, and it is to be celebrated, though knowing all things reach their cycle. Melancholy indeed.
Good piece of writing for thought.
My best wishes.
Have a great week.

RG thanks very much! Yes, the increbile balance of living from first to last breath, in what truly is a very short time span within the whole of creations existence.

You described a very painful emotional situation and used only eight words. I'm impressed. It takes me at least 80,000 words to say anything. LOL Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us and good luck.

Thank you Barbara We each struggle in our own ways to define the yin and yang of life's increbile short span of time we are here.

I believe no one is really truly prepared for the day. I remember when my wife passed away, I was prepared to see her go. I couldn't stand seeing her suffering from body pain. But she for my sake and the children's safe, I know she was never prepared to leave us behind.
Unfortunately all lies will end someday... I am ready for my day but not really prepared for it.
Thanks for sharing your work.

Chan first and foremost, I am sorry for your loss. Life is simply a juxtaposition between first and last breathes on this plane and yet we affect so many souls along our journey. I too am ready but yet fully prepared.
Comment from C. Gale Burnett
A great 8-word poem! There are so many ways to not be prepared as death nears. You have the emotional and mental state versus the practical state.
In your poem, I felt the former; the sudden realization that death is drawing near, rushing too quickly like a river gushing downstream. I felt fear, regrets for what's been done and what has not been done; and perhaps not being prepared spiritually.
The overall presentation was perfection. Enjoyed the rhyme.
