This is funny. Scott is really being an asset to the community if he provides a Thanksgiving dinner for those who have no place to go. Jim must really be a pain if it was worth $3000 to keep him away from the family's Thanksgiving dinner. He probably wouldn't have gotten away with the behavior he shows at the synagogue dinner. Delightful read. judi

Jim's official diagnosis is DSD--Dick-Spectrum Disorder.

The notes were short and to the point: Thanks for Thanksgiving; mark me down to Christmas.

As to the amount of the donation, I made up the number.

In a way I feel sorry for Jim. There has to be a reason he's like that. Anyway, I enjoyed reading. Maybe Jim needs some kinds of help, although he would probably refuse it.

This is another great story, Liz, true or not. It wasn't the ending I expected, but I can understand how frustrating it must have been to have Jim around for meals. Obviously he had a mental issue, like maybe dyslexia?

You scamp! You know the most interesting people and get in the strangest situations. I laughed my head off over this one. Your life is a bubble bath, Liz ... and your friends are your bubbles!!

I think we all have friends and family like Jim, who we would just as soon never see or have to deal with. Thanks why for the last four years, I've avoided everyone on Thanksgiving and Christmas. I just go serve food to the needy and the few who just appreciate living. Thanks for sharing. I wish I had a six.

Oh, so he has a form of autism? Explains his actions. LOL.

Autism is ASD; per my amateur diagnosis, Jim has what I've coined DSD--and he's on the "biggest" end of the Dick spectrum.

Liz,

Wow. That's kinda sad, isn't it? SO happy to have a family member off your hands? Wow. But it sounds like Jim is a complicated guy, too. Your friend Scott is my hero. Thanks!

Excellent story and well written in characterization.
Scott is a generous and kind soul.
It sounds like Jim is mentally or emotionally ill autistic? if his behavior is just as bad with his family.
Regards
Mary

Hi Liz,

Hahaha! Jim is one of those b@$t@rds that does everything by the book like his Mama taught him but his heart just can't be nice about it. I've met a few like Jim.

Nice of Jack, his thankful brother to send Scott $3000 for his trouble of taking Jim out of the family place setting at Thanksgiving lol.

Great stuff as always, Liz.

Happy Wednesday my friend :))

If this really happened it would be neat. The man sound obnoxious but he much have been bought up with manners to send thank you notes. I hope the brother really did reward Scott for his patience. Cool story.
