Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to across this lovely number. I heard it for the first time here. I like it immensely. What a lovely combination of poetry and song. Lovely accompaniment too. Thanks very much for sharing.

Thank you very much for the wonderful review and generous six star rating. I?m so glad you enjoyed the song for the first time. I love introducing people to wonderful music. It is my hobby and my passion. Sending along my very best to you and yours as always, Sally :))

A great choice, although I confess to having forgotten who sang it, and I was more familiar with the chorus than with the rest of the song. But his voice is superb, and the lyrics have enough depth to make one think about the meaning behind. Thank you.

With the vast difference in our ages, some of your choices are beyond me, but I remember this one, and I liked it, too. I'm more into the gay 90s and 30s to 40s music. I'm an old fogie.

You are not an old fogey. I?m glad you enjoyed this though and I?m sure to please you later on with some more 30s and 40s music. I have two or three that come to mind already. Sending along my very best to you and yours as always, Sally XOs

That's so sweet of you.

Thank you for picking this one, Sally. I love the song, but had forgotten that Richard Harris sang it. Since I have memorized every song in Camelot, that just seems strange to me. The photo of Richard Harris seems strange as well. The fact that that famous song ended as number 76 for the year seems strange as well.
Seems like I learned a lot from this jukebox pick.

Thank you for the lovely review and you are most welcome. I?ve loved this song for the longest time and love still do. I think I appreciate the poetry in it even more now that I?m a poetess. I knew I?d have a a lot of fans for this song here on FanStory.

Funny that you say that. Since I started writing poems, I really appreciate the lyrics in music. I never really did that much before.
-
It has intensified for me. :))

You would be a great song writer--particularly love songs.
-
Aw, you?re so sweet! XOs

I'm dead serious. Not sweet. Unless you are working on song lyrics, you are missing your calling.

Hello Sal.
You picked a good one for number 37. I never thought Richard Harris was a great singer, but he certainly was wonderful actor. I remember his movie, "A Man Called Horse."
I listened to this song a lot when I was deployed the first time in 1968. every soldier has a box full of tunes he can remember based on his service. This is one of the songs I remember well.

The thing I like most about these posts, Sally, is that you include all the words to the song for us, and the video so we can sing along. I think I tended to enjoy songs more for the music and rhythms so I often only caught the words to the chorus. I liked MacArthur Park for that reason, but now that I've read, and sung, the words I understand the beautiful love story. Thanks so much for sharing this.

The song was awesome, Sally. JWebb was an awesome songwriter. The song was performed perfectly with everything falling into place--the lyrics, the music, the time of release etc. Your pick is a great one. I enjoyed reading your thoughts and listening to this classic again.
Respectfully, Jan

I always loved the tune, that pulled at my heartstrings. I also have always love the metaphors used here. It has a great sensory image weaving through it. I noticed you mentioned the metaphors also. It was nice to hear his voice again

I remember Macarthur park too, Sally. 1968 was the year my husband and I met. A great year. I mainly remember the chorus and the tune's in my head as I write. Have a good day Sally, cheers
