Spiffy sounds like she was a wonderful companion for many years. I recently took in a stray cat and we quickly bonded. Special pets always live on in our hearts. I really enjoyed reading about Spiffy. :-)

Thank you very much, Spangle, for your great review of my poem (and the whole post). Yes, special pets do live on in our hearts; they are unforgettable. I had so many wonderful times with Spiffy, and my husband did, too (even though she tried to steal his burgers, which we still laugh about). Enjoy your sweet kitty fur baby. I'm so happy you enjoyed reading about Spiffy; thank you!

My little Dog Buffy who died exact;y a year ago, didn't love baths but was happy to stand there and be shampooed and even blow-dryed. I think as I got her as a puppy and she grew up being washed in the sink. I loved this poem and reading about your dog, our current dog Meg is a border Collie and LOATHES bathes however she loves to swim in dirty lakes and rivers! A very witty entry for the comp well done kind regards Meia xx

Thank you, Meia, for this lovely and personal review. I'm sorry for the loss of your little Buffy, exactly one year ago -- a sad anniversary, but a day to remember your sweet fur baby. It's a privilege to commemorate this day with you. Buffy is an adorable name.
Meg sounds like another very good dog, it's very funny that she hates getting bathed, yet loves a swim in dirty water! Such typical doggy behavior. Thank you for sharing, enjoy your sweet Meg, thank you for the kind regards and blessings on you, and your human and furry family!

I truly enjoyed your delightful author notes about Spiffy's bath time, especially her going back to view the scene of the crime. Your photo and poem says it all. Spiffy looks like she's questioning you. This whole presentation is well done.

Thank you so much, Lorraine! What a wonderful review, and I'm so happy you liked my poem, the photo and the notes. I think you're the only person who commented on "the scene of the crime," which I personally find so amusing, when Spiffy went back to have a second look at the place where the bath occurred. It's as though she were thinking, "What just happened to me? What's it all about?"
I still find it impossibly cute, remembering it; also, she had mastered the art of the questioning look. Spiffy was able to communicate quite a lot with her eyes. It's amazing how much, over time, we were able to understand each other. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

This is a very funny poem. Dogs are afraid to take baths. They don't like the sense of it. I like your poetry. Excellent work! No grammatical errors. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you, Raul, for this great review. If you found it funny, then my poem has succeeded in fulfilling my intention, yay! Yes, the vast majority of dogs don't like getting bathed, and Spiffy was no exception. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Hello anon, good personification used in this 5/7/5 poem. It is amusing and many readers will identify with your story. Not every dog likes water. Good accompanying picture. Good luck in the contest - regards Dorothy x

Enjoyed your poem a lot, but even more I enjoyed the Author's Notes. You should publish those too. You described the bath time so well I could just see the action unfolding, and it reminds me of why I don't bath mine! We go to a dog groomer a few doors away!

Hi Wendy. Thank you so much for reviewing my poem and reading my notes. I'm so happy you enjoyed them, and were able to relate to them. I did have to stop washing her myself! It was just too difficult. I won't say that it was fun while it lasted, but it was FUNNY!
But I think going to the professional groomer was a little easier on her, too -- not the one where they disappeared with her into the basement, but the one where I was allowed to go with her, into the truck.
Thanks so much for a great review!

Yes... I think most dogs recoil when it comes to us humans giving them a bath. my father used to chain our Alsatian to a tree to wash him back in the day. it used to LOVE rolling around in horse manure for some insane reason : ))

It's true, most dogs don't like a bath. Because we're city dwellers, Spiffy didn't have a chance to roll around in anything gross, but I've heard similar stories about dogs wanting to get themselves covered with the most unpleasant scents imaginable -- even dead things! Horse manure is also very gross.
My brother's dog got skunked (this, of course, was not deliberate) and the antidote was tomato juice. I suppose that might work for many other unpleasant odors. But I guess for many ordinary disgusting smells, soap and water works just fine, especially outdoors.
Thanks, Hitcher, for a nice review and the funny story.

He must have felt betrayed. Did you give a ducky to tempt him? Bath time can be a little stressful for your pup. I liked your funny little poem on your pet. Well done! Good luck!

Yes, that's very insightful and empathetic. I think she did feel betrayed, especially when I put her on the leash, and it wasn't for a walk! Bad mommy! But all's well that ends well. She did feel better, once clean.
Thank you very much for your great review, it is much appreciated, and I'm happy that you saw the humor in it. Thanks for your kind wishes.

This is so very adorable. Most animals are leery of baths, and often their owners take them to PetSmart or other places to get their baths done, where they would be held by a harness while working on them.
Loved your imagery, visuals, presentation and priceless author notes about your dog Spiffy. Tell her my cat Sabrina said hello (big smile).
I loved it, wish I had a six.

Thank you so much, Eternal Muse, for your phenomenal review and your virtual six. I'm especially happy that you appreciated Spiffy's cuteness! I'm sorry to say that the Spif has crossed the Rainbow Bridge (sometime ago) and is surely missed; but thank you for Sabrina's hello. Spiffy gave my husband and me a lot of fun, over the years. I think most dogs are part clown! We send our love to Sabrina. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing!

P.S. sorry about "Drumming," I meant "Drumborg," that was autocorrect and I didn't catch it!
It's fine. It is an unusual name
Bless you and have a great week
