Your story is very well told. I am sure that Chuck was happy to finally find his lease. I like the way you built up the story with descriptions of the two different Kevins, but kept us in suspense until the end.

Elizabeth:

That has been the awkward thing about some of our prayers, hasn't it? If our prayers are answered the way we desire, it means that someone else's world is about to be shattered. We live in a complicated world, don't we?

It seems a little unimportant to me. Still the story is well told, retaining the humor that is built-in. No suggestions for improvement come to my mind.

What a dilemma for Scott. You did a great job explaining the circumstances, Liz. I'm happy for Scott that everything worked out, but sad for the man who perished. Your story is well written with great descriptions and smooth flow.
Respectfully, Jan

An especially timely piece as the moratorium on evictions has expired and many a down and out tenant are gritting their teeth and tossing through sleepless nights wondering if there will be a "Notice to Quit" hanging upon their door any day now. This is a much more personal story but magnifies the turmoil and tension anyone who may well feel in jeopardy of a roof over their heads would be feeling! I'm sorry for Kevin Mahoney... I'm relieved for Chuck!---Karenina

Chuck sounds about like everyone else. Just to conclusion only knowing a small part of what he thinks he does. Slow and easy . . . patience . . . patience . . . relax . . . Thanks for sharing.

Perhaps it's time for a proper lease, one that says Chuck has the option to renew?
I'm so glad Chuck's landlord is safe and sound. Really sad about the other Kevin, only 33, wow.

Small typo: '...I'lll be getting...' two l's are enough - lol

Hello Liz.

Names can certainly be confused as the years go by. Confusing the name of the lease owners a little more troublesome than most names. Fortunately, this little bit of confusion turned out to be not confusing at all.

Chuck can rest easy until the next sailboat incident.

The story is written with good irony placement.

Robert

I should not laugh but I have to because, I do understand how not remembering full names and searching for that one piece of paper to discover the elusive name. It's happened to me, more than one. LOL Thank you for sharing.

In about fifteen minutes, I'lll be getting a call from my friend Chuck, (I'll???)
