Ahh! What an anti-climax!. You are brave. You are spunky. But looking at the list of punishments I don't blame you for backing off. NIce to see that you still remmebt the old times and relish in recollecting naughty days. Love it!Cheers!

One of the most exhilarating experiences of my life!

Hey! That's not the way it ends in the movies! The driver is suppose to acquiesce and succumb to your daring hijack! You must have been a spry and stubborn lass with the confidence of the National Guard! I say you were performing a public service... Should have been awarded a medal or something...
(I may be a tad biased)
Jess is laughing as she types this so I think your write is a success!
I know it is! (Hey at least you didn't do this in Hawaii--that Aloha State isn't kidding!

One of the most exhilarating experiences of my life!
Comment from Jay Squires
Damn, you're good, Liz. That had all the elements of good fiction in it: the establishment of a threat or danger. The admission that you had put yourself voluntarily in that position of danger ... and all before the opening of the story. You build a rising conflict with the freezing weather and freezing crowd, create the crisis scene with the open threat to the driver and suspend the climax while the driver goes inside to speak to his supervisor and then resolve it with the driver announcing the protagonist wins!

How cool! No, not cold cool but quick-thinking, brilliantly assertive, problem-solving, health-preserving kind of cool! Good for you and I don't think they could ever call that hijacking!

One of the most exhilarating experiences of my life!
Comment from Wendy G
Oh this is excellent! How brave you were, and what a great outcome, especially in view of what might have been! You built up to your story very well by listing the different punishments first. Well done. I bet the bus driver was glad to finish his shift that night - and what a story for his family!

One of the most exhilarating experiences of my life!
Comment from T B Botts
Well done Elizabeth! Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I can't imagine the reaction you would get now over such an incident. We need to take a serious look at the justice system. Minor offenses seem to be elevated in the eyes of the law into major crimes, while rioting and burning down cities is acceptable if you're doing it in the name of social justice. I applaud your courage. It appears that you haven't changed so much over the years. You go girl. Have a great night.

One of the most exhilarating experiences of my life!

Hello Liz.
That is a very unique way to get a bus driver to take you to your destination. I'm sure the anticipation of the police boarding the bus with shackles to take everybody away did have a chilling effect, but it seems you got to your destination quite handily.

I'd have done the same thing too! If I was warm enough to move. You were an activist even then - an inspirational story of taking the law into your own hands for the greater good. When this happens at other times the perpetrators are often misguided about 'the greater good'.
(Makes me wonder what happened in Hawaii that caused the penalty to be so strict.)
