Leaders reflect us...

Your poem is right on the money, my friend. And so are your notes, IMHO. It's a challenge, for sure, when corruption is obvious, but generally speaking, politicians ARE a reflection of us and it is NOT our place to judge.

Though I don't always agree with the message, your writings continue to be excellent in word choice, rhythm, and rhyming. People sometimes see 'calling people out' as judging. An example of judging is telling a kid he's going to be no good like his no-good father. But telling him if he continues to do the bad things his father did, he too could end up in trouble. That's a warning and it gives the kid a way out--meaning 'don't follow in your father's footsteps and be what God created you to be. A great poem nonetheless.

I wouldn?t like being a politician, they normally start well, but it?s a difficult game to play, (you wouldn?t vote for a politician who says he?ll do his best but promises nothing, your more likely to vote for the one who tells you what you want to hear.) thank you Amahra, blessings Roy

Funny how tall timber always gets cut down by those who grew them, if we could accept the reason that this timber is needed to help support and comfort us I think things would flow a lot better, God created all man decided to differ, I thoroughly enjoyed this read whether I read right or wrong there is no vote (Ha!) an excellent work****kahpot

I agree with you on one point....why vote? There was so much corruption in the last election that I don't think we can trust any politicians. As far as those in power being a reflection of us....that might be true but my lies and misdeeds don't affect an entire country. That being said, God is truly the only one who will hand down judgment. Thanks for sharing.

You have, in this poem, hit on a theme that is close to my heart. I can't help but think what a better world this might be if everyone would simply stop criticizing everyone else! Our politicians are constantly under attack, and often for things they didn't even do. If we can't readily find something to criticize, let us hurry and make up something! We certainly wouldn't want to be kind to anyone who holds public office, now would we? Heaven forbid! (Whatever happened to the Golden Rule?) Your wonderful poem spells it out clearly. WE are not perfect. Therefore we have no right to expect our leaders to be perfect. They, too, are humans and humans have never been flawless. Thanks for this thought-provoking poem and thanks for letting me borrow your soapbox for a minute. ;") I like how you think, Roy.

And hasn't the blame game stepped up a notch in this covid time. A great rhyming poem and presentation Roy, and well said. The trouble is today everone has a forum to shout out their opinions on politicians. Well written Roy, cheers valda

You did a great job with your poem, Roy. I enjoyed reading it. You make several valid points about us & them (politicians). Yes, we are all people, and yes, we did elect them. No one is unblemished and free to pass judgment, but that doesn't stop the hate that's so prevalent from all sides. Yes, only God can judge. I like the color scheme, the rhymes, and the image. Your message is clear, too.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

Yes, Roy, you are right up to a point. In the democratic world the politicians indeed reflect the voters. But I think you forget the rest of the none undemocratic world, where you could die from having an opinion. If there was a God, he or she could surely not agree to that. I'm sorry, I don't mean to be confrontational. Just expressing my opinion.
You've written a wonderful poem. Ulla:)))

You are right, I don?t know how He does it, but He knew you were going to be exactly as you are?but that?s why He is who He is, and you are what you are, Just because you don?t believe, doesn?t make Him disappear. You choose not to believe, as long as you live, He allows that, because He?s gracious, but one day dear girl?I was as you are, I?ve never been frightened, but He?s the only person really worth knowing, you?re the one missing out. But thanks Ulla, blessings, Roy

-Good artwork and
presentation, Roy.
-Your notes are appreciated,
especially at the end with common sense!
-I like how you show the viewpoints in the poem.
-You make some very good points, and this
one stands out for me:
"If you are clean, no blemished soul,
then you can judge those black as coal."
-It is like the saying, "let him who has not
sinned cast the first stone."
-Thanks for sharing your thoughts and poem.

So true. It seems that we like nothing better than cutting people down - the tall poppy syndrome. This is encouraged by the destructive nature of the media. They like nothing better than a scandal and do all that they can to inflate it out of proportion. However, perhaps I should not malign them. They are only doing their job.
