ha! Haa! I loved the punch line. What a goof-up! These things happen every now and then. Comedy of errors. I do it all the time. A lot of people do small mistakes. I take up a big job and thoroughly screw it up. Much enjoyed your story. Cheers!

The gist is true--I don't think they wasted the diapers. The parents were cool about it! (Four times was likely an understatement.)

Liz,

hahahahahaha! Man, I hope they hadn't given these folks a big long resume with a fake list of names of parents/children (esp babies) they had supposedly cared for. What fun! But then, no harm, no foul. Did they throw all those diapers away or just toss them to the side?

Oh my GOSH! As I was reading this I was recalling three hundred years ago (give or take) when I switched from cloth diapers to the very first "disposables" the darn tape would only stick ONCE (if that!)--and if you undid a diaper to "check" --that was money down the drain...

I DID NOT see the non-removal of the adhesive backing coming! For that alone you'd merit a six and (what a miracle!)--it's Wednesday night and I have NOT "spent" all my sixes yet! Ta-Da!

Kudos to the dynamic duo for using their Spidey sense and figuring out electrical tape was a nice (and somewhat fashionable on a young lad) second reinforcement!

Lauren and Melissa are "PAMPER" legends!

I admit there was a time or two as a young mom I may have used Scotch Tape to hold an "oops, still dry and no sticky left" diaper in place! (Thrifty! I was thrifty!)---Karenina

This is just simply hilarious. The novice babysitters got a good lesson in diaper changing. This is a terrific story that one will remember for a long time.
Thank you for the laugh.
Regards,
Mary

LoL!! Oh my goodness! I knew there could not have been that many defective pampers!! Well, I hope they were not charged for the "defective" diapers used.

Reminiscent of my days of baby sitting. When young we go into these jobs completely unprepared, unless we've had younger siblings to practice on. It wasn't until I had my own children that I could change a dirty diaper without gagging! lol

My father gagged--I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't--never changed a diaper as a babysitter.

AAAHHH...and the lessons in babysitting a toddler began. Things that we as adults take for granted are new and confusing to the beginner. Got to give them an A+ for effort though. Smiles, Carol

HILARIOUS! Oh, Liz, I'm wondering if they still accept funny little stories in "Reader's Digest," because I really think this would make the cut. Do they have that magazine out in New Zealand?
They had the poor child tied up in black electrical tape, wrapped around his diaper! The parents probably had to cut it off him, with a scissor.
Amazing that FanArt even had such a picture available! Perfect!
It's a good thing there were two of them... otherwise, who knows what would have happened to the wet baby? ð???ð???ð?¤£

Hey Liz! I just had to read it to my husband, and he was laughing out loud. I'm sorry I got your country of origin confused with someone else's; also your use of the word "whilst" over the simpler "while" was reminiscent of U.K. English. So you think four times, wrapped around was an understatement? Wow! My husband said, what about duck tape? I said I didn't think they would have had to wrap it so many times with duck tape (or duct tape, but I like duck tape better, because it tears easily), because it's wider.
I wonder if Reader's Digest pays money? If it does, you should send it!
    LOVE this story!
Blessings and love, Mary Kay xoxo

I'm delighted he liked it as much as you did!

I prefer some British variants; whilst is one, also grey, shall (sometimes), probably others that don't come to mind.

Ha, I am still laughing. This is a terrific story, and quite the caper. Even though the punchline was lingering in the back of my mind, I still got a great laugh.

Thank you for a most amusing story. :))

LOL I guess these girls weren't ready to babysit babies LOL I remember when disposable diapers first came out. Yes, my older boys wore honest-to-goodness cloth diapers. LOL I am that old.
