Sandra:

This hurricane you have so expertly described reminds me
of why I never want to move any further south than I am in the southernmost part of Virginia. Like Tania, I think my nerves would be totally shot. I look forward to your next installment.

Aw, thank you, Jan! That is so nice of you to say I've written the hurricane well. I really appreciate that. I don't think I'd like to move in a hurricane area, or an earthquake area. We had one near us when we lived in Spain, the whole house shook even though it was a few miles away. It destroyed the whole main living and shopping area and so many people died. We mov ed home to the UK not long after!! Lol

I hope I can get the next part up on Sunday, but we are moving in three weeks and there is so much left for me to do. Why do we collect stuff we know we'll never use again but think we might? I'll try to make time to finish editing it, and catch up a bit with everyone on here. Thanks again, Jan! Warm hugs, my friend. Sandra xx

What? Is it possible? Have I ofund a chapter to Betrayal that' not been posted for three weeks?! lol
It's so interesting!

Thoughts:
~ Love the description of Shadow and how he just slips into the car. If I were Monica, though ... I'd be pushing him back out! My younger sister would do far worse -- she carries at all times due to the crime in her city and near her business. But ... I guess Monica probably feels perfectly safe with Reg and Jeff!
~Surely he would have found out where they're hiding her by now?' >> No question here. It's a statement.
~ I may have missed it, Sandra, but I didn't hear them say that Rapier had figured out where Grant and Tania were hiding. I heard Collin wonder if Raper had found them and his mom say he needed more time. Then it seemed like Reg thought they'd found them. What did I miss?
~
~ wisest room to head for ?? Are we supposed to end a sentence with the word 'for'? (I just did! lol) Might try 'wisest room to wait out the storm' or some such.

I've never been in a hurricane, but a tornado ... That's a scary, incredibly loud horror-show! We didn't lose our house because it lifted at our back fence one. But the house behind us (which was quite a ways away with a horse pasture between us) didn't fare so well. But - a miracle!
The mom had been shopping and her habit was to take their new baby into the house first, then return to the car for the groceries. She had no idea why, but she took groceries in first, returned to the car and glanced up as the tornado dropped. She jumped into the car, put the car in reverse and hit the gas. Her car shot backwards into the drive across the street as the tornado took the house. Had she taken the baby inside, she probably would have run in to try to get him. They would have both been lost. Instead, just a gallon of milk, a bit of ground bee and some veggies. And the house. They ut a sign out front that said, "For Sale: Texas Termites Damage'. It's good to have a sense of humor when things go sour!
Blessings and hug,
Debs

Hi Debs, Thank you so much for this really helpful review. I've changed a few things because of what you've said. Some others asked if they'd missed something. So back to the morning room with Mrs Harding and her son Colin. This is how part of it reads now.....
#She pushed her writing pad aside and stared at her son. Her expression softened. ?And for your information, he?s not a friend of mine, he?s an acquaintance of your cousin, whom, by the way, you can thank for letting us know where Grant flew off to with that little floozie! Look, as soon as he?s dealt with that stupid woman, then we can relax and get on with our lives. Until then, please at least try to be reasonable.?#
It still keeps the identity of the person a secret until Grant investigates. Because I've changed that, I've had to change a few other things in the conversation between the team in the car. But, all is well now. :)) Thank you so much for that.

Reading about your friend and her baby in the tornado, my goodness, someone was looking out for her!! It's quite scary how things can happen so quickly. I loved what that neighbour of your did, she really did have a sense of humour!

Thank you again, my dear friend. I will try to post on Sunday, but it's chaos here packing up all the things we are taking and sorting what to put in charity shops, and also what to dump. Such fun!! I can't wait to move into our new home. We collect the keys on Thursday and then we can start moving over gradually during the following two weeks. Have a lovely day, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

    That reads much better. :)
I was unaware you were moving. Isn't it fun! (I've decided that, after 28 years in our house, if we decide to move, I"m putting a match to it! lol. Not really, of course, but it sure beats the idea of sorting, packing, and hauling it to the new spot...)
Blessings to y'all as you go through it all!
Have a great and restful evening and a good day tomorrow,
    Debs

I'm a little behind this week. I'm loving the ex- SAS guys. They seem like a fun group, but take their mission seriously. I was confused about the part where Reg says they messed up. I reread it but didn't understand how I missed that Rapier knew where Grant was. Was there something in the last chapter? Maybe I'll have to read that one again. Anyway I hope Rapier's plane goes down in the hurricane. Is that bad? There must be some reason that hasn't presented itself that Colin's mother would go to such lengths to protect him. What a whiny baby he is!
I hope your move is happening smoothly. Have a lovely week! Sally

Hi Sally, so sorry to have taken so long to answer, we were told we can expect to collect the keys to our new home on Thursday, so it's been all go here today. It will take us about three weeks to move in properly, so I'll be in and out of here for a while.

You and a few others couldn't understand what had happened with Rapier knowing where Grant and Tania were. I wanted to keep it a mystery, but after reading yours and others comments, I realise I had to put some sort of hint there. So this is what I've put now....

She pushed her writing pad aside and stared at her son. Until then, please at least try to be reasonable.?

That way you still don't know who told them, but you do know someone did. The who, is what Grant has to discover. Does that help a little? I'm so glad I have you readers who will tell me exactly what you think. It's so important to me to know these things. So, my dear, wonderful friend, thank you!
I'm dashing around like an idiot here and loving every moment. I can't wait to move into my lovely new home. I'll try to post on Sunday, but I might not have time to finish the chapter, but I promise to post as soon as I can. Warmest hugs, dear friend, and thank you so much for the six!! :)) Sandra xxx

Hi Sandra, that works! That dialogue works for Reg and Jeff?s response then. I still hope his plane crashes lol! Don?t work too hard this week. Concentrate on your move. Take care! Sally

Hello Sandra, well I know you always end a chapter with a cliff-hanger, but this one takes the biscuit. The excitement is really building up. How did Colin and Marilyn find out where Grant and Tania are? I love your choice of names - Shadow and Rapier - very imaginative. An aeroplane in the air during a hurricane - I suspect something is going to happen. So many questions. This is a really brilliant chapter - lots happening. Well done girl! Love Dorothy xx

Lol, Dorothy, I think you should write a mystery, you certainly come up with some great ideas here. I'm sorry I've taken too long to answer you, we are furiously packing to move to our new home, and it's manic here. I'm loving every minute!
Thank you so much for the lovely review, my dear friend. I really appreciate it. Answers to your questions coming soon! Warm hugs, and lots of love. Sandra xxx

Hello Sandra, Good Luck with the move. You are so upbeat - I envy you. Actually enjoying the upheaval of moving I applaud you. But it is exciting going to a new place, fresh start. Are you moving far - love to hear how you get on. Love Dorothy xx

I'm glad that Grant and Tania got together and become lovers. I should have kept it up reading it. But it's not too late. With the pending hurricane, the book is getting more exciting.

I like the action in this chapter.

Exceptionally done.

Aw, Thank you, Lisa, what a lovely review. There will be more excitement coming soon, but I'm not saying what it is. :)) Thank you so much for the six stars, that is so nice of you.

We are in the process of moving, and there is so much to do, I might not be able to post next week. But I will try, it's almost ready to go. Warm hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

What happened to the calm before the storm? I see a storm within a storm coming, Rapier lurking, maybe already within striking distance. LOL. "Never a dull moment," as they say. Thanks for sharing.

Well, things are ratcheting up. Now there is definitive proof of what is in store for Tania if she's found, and it's a race against time.
You have a lot of crises going on at the same time, which really maximizes the stress level for both the characters and the readers.
The pace is perfect, leaving it up in the air as to which crisis hits first.
Everything is rushing towards a catastrophe!

Just a couple of typos:
- "...a man, Monica had never met, climbed in..." - no need for either comma
- "He pressed the switch to open his side car window..." - no need for 'car', superfluous
- "...ever heard before, made both..." - no comma needed

Monica meets another of Grant Blake's worthies, an interesting cove called Shadow, a very tall, wiry man, who is keeping an educated eye on the Rapier to see what's going on. Meanwhile on the island Grant is removing the girls to lower quarters beneath the main residence, and the roar of the storm is beginning, well done Sandra, great job, blessings Roy

Well done, hope you?ll be fine, bought a mansion Sandra?
reply by the author on 26-Apr-2021
I wish! But then I'd clean it!! Now just a nice size apartment with large bright and airy rooms. It's a new build, so it's all nicely decorated, with fitted carpets throughout. This will be our last move, unless it's to be taken into a nursing home!! I can't wait to move in. xx
reply by royowen on 26-Apr-2021
Let?s not think of nursing homes. Well done Sandra.

I'm playing catch up, Sandra so this chapter is a bit confusing. Exciting though. All action as nature's hurricane converges with wicked human machinations.

I like your use of robo technology in this chapter. Crossover from your Herbie stories? :-))

Didn't notice any nits.

Looking forward to your next post.

Stay safe healthy and blessed

Julia

This is exciting with the hurricane upon them. I've been in both tornados and hurricanes and they are very frightening. I'm a little confused but I didn't see where anything said that Colin and his mother knew where Grant had taken Tania. They assumed their man would find out, but it didn't sound like they knew. Maybe the fact he has gone from the hotel indicates he knows where they are. I don't think he be heading into the middle of a hurricane.

No, I've just hinted that Colin and his mother know where Grant is, because Rapier knows. So for him to know, someone has told him. But, who? Grant will be wanting to know the answer to that. All will become clear soon! Thank you so much, Beth, for this lovely review.
