Hello JLR, a well composed four line poem written true to form. You stress the importance of writing, whether your words will be read or not, but get comfort in the knowledge that some souls smile. A good entry to the contest. Regards Dorothy x

Sending smiles back!
Comment from Patty Palmer
Great job! How true that when we write we have no idea who or how many people might end up reading it. Guess that's why we should be somewhat discreet. LOL I should follow my own advice LOL

Your contest entry makes a great point. First of all, the syllable count is correct per line. I like the way you formatted your lines, too. The image is a great choice to pair with your well-chosen words. I agree with your message. If just one person smiles after reading our work, that is a blessing because the one who wrote the work already like it.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes, Jan

Most of the time I have writers block so I try to break that ugly spell by reviewing. I did like the encouraging words in your well thought out poem. Don and Vicki.

This is truly beautiful. The notion that ones work may speak to someone's soul is charming, heartwarming, and inspiring. It is true, we do not know who will ultimately read our works but the is comfort in knowing that someone out there may read and allow their soul to smile. Thank you for this!

Hello JLR,
Nice piece of poetry meeting the desired norms, having impressive as well as perfectly matching the theme phraseology, enchanting flow throughout from the beginning to the end, and beautifully depicting its theme - the writer's happiness lies in the happiness of all those who read/enjoy his/her writings. It matters little whether they know him/her or not.
BEST OF LUCK in the contest.

'Poet's Desires' , is short, succinct and very much to the point. Woven through each line are the golden threads of truth. It was a pleasure to both read and review this talented poet's work. Good luck with the contest!

I love the message conveyed in your inspiring 4 line poem entry.
You chose the perfect words to encourage writers.
It's true you never know the effect your writing might have - if only on one ''soul"
Thanks for sharing and best of luck in the contest.

Wonderful! We never know. Years after I had written a column about Rick Warren and his 40 Day Challenge, I received an e-mail from a pastor who had found a clipping of it in a book he bought at a garage sale. I wrote it in 2003. He responded in 2004. We are still corresponding with each other. You never know

How true your words are. When we write we know that not everyone will rave over our words, but even if they resonate with one reader, it will be worth our time and effort.
