Powerful emotions unleashed in this formed free verse depiction of desolation in a repressed world. Pain oozes from the page. So many colors of love. Fierce mother love of children. Cozy love of home. Meaningless love of thoughtless words on post-it notes, and thwarted love. All these contained in this whirlwind. Awesome I say! Well said!

I am with you on this one. Love is an emotion that I have had little experience with and to be honest, don't really miss it all that much. Of course I love my children and grandchildren. I finally got to know my mother and was able to express my love for her before she died. But I do not miss the two makes one love that so many swear is all there is. I love my solitude, and pick my friends carefully. Love is for the strong and strength is not my strongest suite.

I'm a mixed bat on love, too, I'm afraid! I definitely enjoy my alone time, that's for sure. And as you're already familiar with the personality profile of my sweetheart, you'll know it can be somewhat of a challenge! :)))

A unique poem of love, Sharyn.
For me, first I have to like
a person to learn to love them,
apart from my husband and sons -
they have my unconditional love.
Now they've all left home I no longer need
to leave sticky-notes everywhere.
Then you take us into the depths of painful denial? At least, that's what I get from it.
I love the ending - brilliant.
Good luck with the contest.

oh good! you got the denial bit Margaret - thank you so much. I always think, even in film, that 'denied' emotions are even more powerful.

This is a touching, beautiful and very enlightening poem. It seems to cover the realm of a woman's emotions, so it connects so well to a woman's intimate feelings. I liked the bare creamy walls. Great metaphor!

Today, just the wind wanders, singing through our
sacred grove of Norfolk pines, glittering with rain. Nothing
in the sink. Nothing precarious. All precise, present and correct
Such a write you have given us. So many sticky notes that one would have to wonder exactly what you were talking about. That is, up until this quoted section. Sigh girl, you do do missing you very well.

aaah, just so long as you caught up eventually Pam ... as a drama queen, I do like to try on these emotions - don't do 'mushy' and always love landscape as it plays an important part in my emotional life. :)S

Smile sweetie.

When you release someone and let them go. Wait a day and if they don't come back, Hunt them down and kill them. This is very well written.

Love is exclusive, personal and passionate objective activation and it cannot be made others to feel or understand the depth or gravity, it is nothing to show, no discussion, nothing public, a good conviction, I liked. 1/616

A beautiful write, Sharyn! Yes, life is not the same when you find yourself alone after sharing many years with that special someone. Only time eases the emptiness somewhat.
Your poem connects well with this reader. Vivid imagery and much emotion evoked. "No one's at the door, as I contemplate my bare creamy heartless walls" ... this tugs at the heartstrings. Fave line ..."both sides smoothed".

Thank you so much Connie - you know me, a drama queen - I like to try these emotions on for size, and didn't want to write a mushy 'love poem' per se.
Blessings,
Sharyn

I believe this poem is about love lost and found. The forgotten lover. The beloved sons. The unmade bed bring love into focus.
