This is an exceptional poem that the author has created with this piece of writing. This is a great tribute to wonderfully talented and intellectual people who are profoundly disabled. Well done indeed.

Being disabled myself, I have broadened my horizons by reading and learning how to write poetry. It is addictive. Never having read aloud, never wanting to. Still it gives me great joy to be a recognized writer on fanstory. Thanks for writing a different and important piece of poetry.

Hi Sis Cat,
Loved this piece. I sometimes feel that those who have additional needs show a determination that we 'able' sometimes lack. O f course, the opposite is also true. I spent twenty years working with children and young people who needed extra help and this is definitely something I would have shared with them.
Great message, great work.

This is very good, Sis Cat. Your call to poets to be brave enough to front the open mic and share their wares is powerfully rendered through a series of intelligently penned and confronting couplets. Each speaks of a poet who has every reason to back away, but found the courage overcome their disability. For me the most powerful:I heard a poet so sick
she spoke her last rites into the mic
A great and poignant read.

Yes, the last rites line represents my mother who kept performing and writing up until she died. Without her inspiration and example, I would not have become a poet. Thanks for the review.

Great poem, I know a Man who shakes all over, he gets up to sing with a chair to hold on to. He has a beautiful voice
I am not in the world of normality
But that is only a slight formality
Living to the full is my reality,
In essence it boosts my vitality
Well done, Mary
