I love the romance in this free verse. Summer can be a carefree time of young love, and can also bring back that feeling of nostalgia. There is lovely imagery of the sea that brings the reader to the scene. How sweet that they shared chocolate kisses. Good luck in the contest.

he'll hold out his arm
and she'll offer him
chocolate double-dappled kisses
sweet lips, and
the first sugared stars
showering the dark of
summer's
lambent

Exquisite!! For me to say that it really has to be too. I absolutely love it girl. The language, the air of mystery and the free verse. Wow.

Ah, back into the sexy mode again, I see. I like that mode. And I'm always amazed that there seem to be appropriate photos available for any piece of writing. Very nice poem....turns me on.

This is a very picturesque poem for sure. The words just spread out a full blown picture of delight in every way. Very nicely done. God loves you and so do I.

Hi Sharyn,
You have written a lovely poem for the love poem contest. I like your descriptive words that slide the page with ease. You have good alliteration throughout as well as enjambments. Your imagery is so vivid I could almost taste the chocolate. Well done and good luck in the contest....blessings, chey

This is a beautiful piece of love poetry. You captured the nuances of the game of seduction which often precedes love relationships. very well done in apt diction. kudos

"summer's lambent loving" Love the word 'lambent. Well said, with the imagery of common events trickling down in an uncommon pain to intimacy on a silvered bench by the sea,. Ice cream becomes the common medium that joins two lovers together, sensuous ice cream. Always did feel like I was 18 all over again when eating the stuff. Well crafted and deserving.

S, this is so sweet, as sweet as the chocolate ice cream dripping down the cone. The imagery in your lines takes me where you are and lets me see what you see. Great job, Cindy
