I love this story! Your daughter must have many of your same qualities, which is always somewhat amazing in an adoption story. I have an adopted son who has so many of the same characteristics as his mother, we constantly marvel at the likeness, but of my four children, he is the only one. Joni, however, our youngest daughter, is very much like her adoptive father, my Bob. So I guess God does give us the children we are meant to love. A wonderful little story, Stan. Who is the girl in the picture?

Thanks for stopping by and going back to pull this one out. When it came to the picture, I tried to find something that would have resembled how she looked at that time. When she was little, I used to tell people she looked like Shirley Temple! That's how I remembered it. Thanks for sharing your family story too! I think the best stories come from our real-life family experiences.

Well, I just Love this story.
I wish more adoptions took place nowadays, I'm so happy for you and your daughter that this one did. Truly an inspiration!

Excellent story here, Stan. I can relate quite easily. What a warm human interest story this is. What does your daughter think about all of this today? I'll bet she will be forever grateful too. Bless you, my friend. :) Bob

Our relationship is strong as ever, and she has three wonderful daughters. Interestingly enough, she wanted to learn more about her real father and did research on it, meeting some of his family members. My wife has been wonderful from the beginning and was always honest with her. I'm just humbly thankful that I was able to have such a big part of her life.

This story really touches my heart, I was a birth mom and had no choice but to give my son for adoption, so I appreciate all thing related to adoption.
Adoption Is Love
A caring and loving act
Difficult for sure to the birth mom.
Open or closed adoptions
Provide many childless couples.
The ability to raise a child as their own
Instructing the child the meaning of love
Only completely understood by one who
Needed to give the child life and love.
Insisting on doing the right thing
So another could raise her child.
Leaving the results in the hands of God
Over coming her pain and fear
Ventures forth and submits God's will
Enduring painful memories.

What a wonderful essay. It's so warm, heartfelt, brought tears to my eyes. You must be a terrific dad for her to write this about you. The little girl in the picture is adorable is that her?

The picture is not, but I thought she looked like Shirley Temple when she was little.

A beautiful story for the True Story Flash!! It warms my heart to read your story because my own three children we also adopted when they were older, I always told my kids that people who get pregnant and have babies get a boy or girl, But we adopted them which means we got to pic them special. Some of the kids at my oldest son's school would call him nasty names that children shouldn't hear let alone repeat. So I gave him that for ammunition. I'm so glad that the Lord put you together where you all belonged. God bless!!!

So much about the story was providential. I've thought about writing the story of it, because my wife and daughter went through some tremendous trials. Blessings around the bend!

Hi Stan. This is an excellent flash story written with perceptible emotion. I really liked the sentence in para 2: "My new Dad..." That was awesome. I wish you the best in the contest. Your notes were touching as well.
I'm sure you don't remember this but you were the FIRST person to review a piece of writing of mine back in May of this year. I know nothing about FS and I was getting 2 reviews for everything I wrote. :) Things have gotten better since then. Shortly after that I lost track of you. Good to see you again. I saw a review of yours on a recent piece I wrote. Robert

Wow, Stan! This is a touching and beautiful story. Your daughter is a lucky girl, and you are a lucky dad. So many kids are lost, but when one is saved, we can all cheer.

What a beautiful and touching story. You show, not tell the story of the love your adopted father has for you and the love you have for him. I believe this should do well in the contest.
