Well, although not exactly the most positive of poems out there, it IS memorable (always good) and within the parameters of the form (always critical) and you found a picture that, with its beacon of light, makes me feel like those who weren't saved were given a lovely parting gift. Nicely done! Good luck in the contest. xo

Hi, nice piece of poetry. well done and great image too. I enjoyed the few meaningful words. So sad it reminds me of recent Cyclones that are claiming people. I highly recommend your work to others.

I understand that you were only counting the people. But why?
The purpose of the ark was to save the animals. The people aboard, it can be argued, were merely tools.
If none of the animals survived, what would have become of the humans? Just a thought.

The purpose of the ark was to save mankind. After all enough food could have been stored to last, since in the garden mankind ate of the fruit of the trees, though, of course there would have been nothing to represent Christ's sacrifice for us. I do appreciate the stars and comments, though!

The animals weren't saved as a food source. The ark was built, by Noah, to save the animals--two by two, remember? Male and female.
Noah and his family were saved because God need someone to build and operate the ark. The animals were God's chosen.

That's not what I was taught.

The story of Noah is one of my favorites because the ending is happy. I know there's flooding down South, but it is hard to imagine the whole earth covered in water. Rod
