I guess you're not wishing to be out fishing. You know what it's about, but it's not an action you'd tout. Definitely not a Sonnet, but nice try, ending in an ababcdcdee rhymed decatain. Need a bit of work on that iambic pentameter as well. Here's one tip. When ending a line with a feminine rhyme such as "FISHing," you need 11 syllables. Carry the hard accent on the even numbered syllables.

I DON"T know AnyTHING aBOUT (real) FISHing,
(I) SMELL the SKY'S scent, BREATHE, and HEAR the SWISHing.

Sometime you have to change the words in order to get the meter, Here O switched "LISTen FOR" to "and HEAR the"

Sounds like a lot of fun but it sounds also really time-consuming. I've heard that there are many fisherman poets.

One comment - perhaps you wanted this for the internal rhyme:
"And say a pray before I cast away" (prayer?)

I am laughing out loud at this one. I don't know anything about fishing either, but I always liked to go out in the boat with my dad. Those are great memories. Furthermore, I'm horribly allergic to scale fish/fin fish and can't eat them anyway. Good thing I'm vegetarian. I thought your poem was well written, light-hearted and fun. Marilyn

Hi Marilyn! My dad's been vegetarian most of his life. I think he ate blue crabs, shrimps and codfish growing up. Maybe he caught them on the beach. My parents rather swim with the fish. So I'm not into the fishing scene just around it. Thank you. Hugs, Alicia :)

I am glad you persevered and completed your poem about fishing, regardless of your not knowing a great deal about the sport. I enjoyed your rhymes and salute to sustainability on Earth Day. I also learned about the types of "feisty fish" around South Florida from your notes. Cheers- Joan

I love your fishing poem Miss Alicia.
I love going fishing for trout.
While the object is to catch a fish...
I like to just throw my line out and
daydream.
Wait for the bobber to go under.
It's very relaxing.
Hope you had a lovely Easter,
hope you have a great week!
Blessings...

This was a good read, Sunnilicious. I think you captured enough about fishing for a good piece. I'm not into fishing either but I can't think of anything else for you to consider other than seasickness if you were out on a boat. Good job.
