The photo aptly portrays these connotations, but the brightness seems to indicate morning rather than evening. Also, who created the artwork shown? You have highlighted inferences that not all are able to reflect upon: Sometimes it is more important to have peaceful solitude than it is to have unnecessary stress. I commend you! tkbrown

And what would be wrong with going to bed in the morning, TK? :) :) ;) So many of my friends and my mom as well work the night shift and bedtime for them is morning. I actually wrote the poem so that it didn't matter -- no connotation to day or night except in the photo...it had to be one or the other. And, peaceful solitude is definitely something that a pillow provides...not sure who could not relate to a soft pillow, but I guess there are some that prefer no pillow...you're right, that was not considered here. Then again, such a general/all-inclusive consideration could be applied to anything about which a poet writes and then there would be no point in writing at all since everyone could not relate to everything he or she writes. A poet writes from the heart not to impress an audience. Just some thoughts..... :) ;) So far as your artwork question is concerned, photos in the public domain do not need proprietary information as there is none. Your review has been insightful - thank you for that. :) :) :)

The title of the poem leaves the impression of night time, but I agree with you about sleeping during the day. I have frequently worked the night shift. However, I had to black out my windows with foil in order to sleep at that time on a regular basis. But, with regard to the artwork coming from a public domain, yes you do have to site the website from whence you took the artwork. Not only is that common courtesy, but it is also the law. Please consider if someone took your words and put it with their artwork and claimed it as theirs. :-) Just some thoughts for your perusal. tkbrown

The bed is everyone's best friend after a long hard work at your job. You did very good in expressing why the pillow is so comforting. It eases your negative energy into positives. Once you wake up you're ready to face the world happy. Nice job on your poem!
