Contest winner...and rightly so, choosing a set poetic form and getting the message in smoothly...although I imagine the autumn hills to sound like a distant basso Gregorian chant...

Congratulations on your win. Your poem rhymes well.
The form you used was nice, the comparing
nature to New Orleans, which, to me is colorful.
If you haven't please read Piedmont USA (WIKI).

I think that your lovely verse is colorful and lively and a great description of the leaves in the fall.
The colors do seem to shout and comparing them to music and instruments in clever.
Well done and thank you for sharing this with us.

33 Reviews, good for you. Have one more and a six too, my last this week, given gladly. The title and poem match perfectly. The band analogy, brilliant. "HEAR the colors", sounds as color, very creative. Well done.

Hello Rod!
How I embrace the imagery of your poem! And congratulations on your first place win in the "Short and Colorful" contest. I live in northern Michigan, and the colors are still blazing and singing!
If I may offer one small suggestion, which may seem irreverent at this point in time, but I would omit as many articles of "the" as you possibly can at the beginning of each line. Why? They aren't needed - especially in the second stanza.
Again...just a thought!
Keep playing that jazz!
Take Care,
diane

I like your theme of the leaves making music. Your poem appeals to the sense of hearing and seeing. I can hear the leaves making music in your words. I also like the leaves making jazz music, it fits the fall colors. Congrats on winning the contest.
