Hi Bill. I like this one. Certainly an impressive creature, isn't it? It makes me wonder how it is even possible to photograph them. It looks to me as if they are the type that must be adored. Nice little 5-7-5. Marilyn

Apparently people collect them as pets and train them.

For real? I'll have to look that up on the internet. If an insect is trainable and perhaps they are, that is really something. And why not?

Well that is just frightening-LOL. Glad she's not as big as she looks in the picture. Quite an original and promises to be an interesting series. I am so far behind on reviewing-have been busy and brain dead for writing.

That's quite scary. I hope it's not going to be huge like Godzilla. Can you imagine meeting up with a thing like that!
Idolomantis - good name for it.

My land, what an awesome critter! I should say he looks like a master of the universe this praying mantis does.
Great job Bill. The Photograph is most interesting indeed.

Idolomantis diabolica is a very fancy name. There must be something diabolical about this praying mantis. Sounds like it could do a lot of damage. Disgusting as it is, the picture does make this insect out to be some kind of monarch, and not a benevolent one. Maybe he's just acting out. Very creative. judi

I believe this is the species that inspired the Kung fu style of praying mantis.

The other critters wouldn't have a prayer against it. juid

In the latest mantis collection, we have now come to the evil, diabolical mantis that wants to be idolized so all that look on his image will tremble out of fear and bow to his power. Interesting insect manifestation!

Ooh. He does look menacing. Let me just get my trusty can of Raid and we will see how much he can digest and still be able to stand. If that does not work, let's see if he can withstand a forceful slam from my garden shovel. One of us is leaving and I do not plan on it being me.

Wow wee Bill, that is some scary looking Praying Mantis. It is almost alien like from another planet. I was close to writing a 5-7-5 on a Praying Mantis myself but compared to this national geographic piece, I'm glad I didn't. Good job! ~DD
