Here is where I would normally makes some silly statement about strange bedfellows, but I will on this occasion refrain. I think that it is wonderful that two animals with differing habits can find companionship.

Cute and clever--and utterly original! Love the inventive rhyming, especially France and ants.
This is funny, inventive rhyming too - and nicely alliterated:
Both had a tongue piercing and each a butt tattoo;
Anzo's was of Donald Duck and Amadeus -- Pooh.
Spag suggestions:
then(,) at night, the aardvark,(no ,) prowls historic streets,(no ,)
for termite infestations and other yummy treats.
French and bench. LOL. well done.
Cute pics too!
Warmly, rd

I over did the commas to create an artificial pause. Does that sound plausible?
-
Some writers do that, and it is allowable, but not something I would personally recommend, as it hampers the natural flow and makes some readers stumble, thus the form distracts from a smooth read. Though it is possible to do in such a way that this does not occur, that is not the case here.
Sincerely,
rd

Sounds like it was love at first ant (I mean love). I like your sense of humor. Your poem was a fun read on a Monday morning:)

What a sweet story. I didn't know aardvarks were nocturnal, or maybe I did and forgot. I think armadillos are nocturnal. Did they learn some French? Develop a taste for escargot? Good rhyming throughout!

Aardvarks are nocturnal, which I only learned yesterday. They don't speak a lot of French, but can ask the time and order wine.

Hi Bill. I gotta' give you a sixer for this one. You have outdone yourself in the Aardvark poetry arena with this terrific piece. It's clever and amusing. These lines are outstanding:
"They met about a year ago at a local Ants-R-Us,
found they'd a lot in common while talking on the bus.
Both had a tongue piercing and each a butt tattoo;
Anzo's was of Donald Duck and Amadeus -- Pooh."

I see you moved on to the aardvark, and what a entertaining story therein this poem!
I like the alliteration that is scattered through out the poem, your unpredictable rhymes, and the fun imagery.
You have a way with animals, Bill.
