Yes! Needed a Virtual SIX but none left, sorry. We did read this in another place. Surprisingly, FS is letting me review this one more time in my sweety's account. God Bless you mate. So glad to have known you all this time. I would look forward to a sequel to this if ever you decide to do it.

Glad you enjoyed this portion of my life story. One day perhaps I'll get around to writing the rest of that story.

I wore a solid navy blue jersey with the Number 13, my favorite number, (Mine too. Especially Friday 13th. That day I quit smoking and adopted my puppy Rocky Balboa. Always good things happen that day.
That was the first time Dusty West called me "son". I hugged him tightly and thought, 'Things like this ain't supposed to happen to boys like me."
( know this was going to happen, duh, but I cried anyway.)
Actually this chapter brought tears to my eyes.

Good chapter, Brett. Glad you finally got out. Glad for your dad, too.
Is this the end? Was your dad ever married ?
If there is more, I'll be here.

Brett,
Congratulations on writing your poignant story. I was engaged from start to finish although a might bit late with the last 3 chapters.
I was so happy for you to have Dusty West in your corner. Everyone has the right to be happy & I'm glad that your time came due to leave HH.
I could see this continued.
You wrote an excellent autobiography of this portion of your life.
Thanks for sharing. I know Dusty is proud of you! Jan

Hi Brett, I certainly think you should continue your story. To be honest it's a lovely chapter and you've been rescued, but it's like unfinished business. Something is missing. All best. Ulla

Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed this portion of my autobiography.
I may well return to the time frame between being fostered and being adopted. Several events occurred that probably need to be mentioned.

I was raised in a Catholic Orphanage. Only there was no 'Dad' for me I toughed it out took the hidings and survived to write about it It was no fun but I got clean sheets on my bed and regular food, so that was a bonus. Regards Mabaker.

In too many situations there are no dads for kids in this position and they simply age out of the system.
Was I one of the fortunate few?
Darn well bet I was!
And, proud of who adopted me too!
Appreciate the review.

G'day Brett.
I'm sorry I haven't been around Fanstory much lately to read your work. Life keeps getting in the way.
I'm glad I caught this brilliant happy ending though. How touching and what a wonderful man to take you in.
Cheers and good luck.

"Yes Brett you said it all in the end...
"Built Ford Tough!"
"And, You had to be in this amazing but sad story.
"Wonder what ever happened to "King Tubbo?"
"He was my favorite character!"
"Reminds me of my childhood friend "Charley Potts."
"Charley's dad would beat him with a Bull Whip until the towns folks took matters into hand."
"That was "The Sixties" and in "The Eighties" when I went back...
"My friend Kenny Lockman told me about the Old Man's beating!"
"They tricked him to meeting at "The Civic Center" and they weren't very "Civic!"

Appreciate your comments and support as always.
The town's folks should have taken matters into their own hands and beat "Charley's dad" with that bullwhip mercilessly!
I may sometime continue my autobiography from my fostering to my adoption. Parts of that I left out...so far.

"I heard that they tricked him into going to....
"The Civic Center" and beat him up mercilessly and hospitalized him.
He needed to be permanently crippled.

Hi Brett; thank you for sharing this moving part of the story. I am SO glad Dusty was able to give you a home. If only more people were capable of opening their homes and hearts to the thousands of foster kids out there.
Your story telling is wonderful and I saw a great deal of improvement in your writing over the course of this long tale.

Thank you so much for sharing your autobiography with us, Brett. As another graduate of the orphanage care system, I can really appreciate your good fortune and the advantage you made of it. Old Tubbo probably left you with a few useful bits of information, too.
Hell of a job.
