Sooo, you wrote a sonnet about octopus dominion... holy toledo! I'll have what you're having (only I want mine on the rock!) - seriously, though this rocks (and not the kind they're hanging out on to do their planning!)!! ;) Had to change it up -- been through horses and spiders and now octopi... hoping the legs aren't doubling every time... lol!! ;) Yvette

This is a cleverly worded sonnet on how the octopi plan to save the planet. Rhymed well and amusing. These lines are especially good:
"On the beaches where now shells are lying
crawled the creatures from which we evolved
a plan to send us back would be worth trying
so danger to the planet could be solved"

Ah, this is a great one, Bill from the picture on down. A thoughtful and rather frightening picture of the inside thoughts of the octopi. Who knew? A humorous touch with a little environmental awareness thrown in-great combo.

I'm in trouble. I can't hold my breath very long.
This is a very deep poem. We have to pray that animals never take over. Just imagine what would happen to the people who have been cruel to them.
I liked this poem very much. And the picture was lovely, even looks like an octopus.
Remember the old routine Bill Cosby did back in the '70s? He was Noah and God kept calling him. Finally, Noah was very cross and screamed, "What?" God said, "Noah, how long can you tread water." I love it! LOL

Not a problem for me. Since I'm not good at holding my breath for a long time, the only way an octopus and I are going to interact is my observing one on film or my standing outside an aquarium looking in or his growing legs and coming after me in the street where he will absolutely lose, because I sincerely doubt that he is impervious to hot lead, launched in his direction with deadly precision.

Who says there's no room for zaniness in the stuffy rolls of the sonnet. You keep your humor and cutting irony as an integral part of your poetry, heah?

Comment from Poetic Friend
Bill,
I am used to reading about sonnet about romance, life, and the likes. I certainly refreshing to read a sonnet about an octopus. You should have entered this poem in the sonnet contest.
I admit, until I read your poem, I was not fascinated by an octopus. Your poem gave me a new perspective.
Thank you for sharing, my friend.

"Attack of the Deadly Octo-Pi!"
Sounds like a good story to me!
Want to write it or shall EYE?
Maybe A "Bay Watch" Character?'
Hasselhoff?
Nah...
He drinks too much now!
Perhaps the kid from the "Sharknado Movies?"
Yea, that will do and we can even bring "Bruce" from "Jaws" aboard!
LOL!!!!
Good and mysterious...

Nice artwork that complements your poem very well. I have never seen a Sonnet about octopus's before, then in a faultless Sonnet. I see it is not for the contest.

A great poem. Your rhymes are perfect. Octopi are the world's greatest chameleons. They can blend into any background. I even saw one perfectly match the squares of a checkerboard.
