This was such a fun read that I forgot it was about the game Cluedo. I used to enjoy playing that game with my kids. You managed to conjure up a sense of despair in few words. I started thinking: Man, old Tony's feeling depressed.... Then I came to reality with a thud. Cluedo!

Love it! Had to read it over when I came to the unexpected ending. Now it made sense. First clue- the play on words: ensconced in candelabra arms,
Clever story to explain his motive.
You excel again, Tony.

An astute detective would know it was Colonel Mustard
just by observing the background color.
When I played, it was always Miss Scarlet with her body,
no other weapon needed.
Now the candlestick, who but renown Detective Fawcus
could discern such an unlikely weapon
as the flame consumes the candle
no candle, no flame.
Excellent imagery of old flames, candles and murder
Well done

-I played many a game of Clue, Tony!
-A good poem about it.
-I like this reference:
"O candle,
where is now your candlestick"
-The verdict is priceless.
-Thanks for sharing about this
game. Hadn't thought about it
in a long time!

I loved the rhyme of bottle/throttle and the rising to the climax in the echo of
epiglottal in axloltl. Very cheering to read as the format of a board game. Thanks for posting,

very clever poem. Didn't realize Cluedo is Clue so the ending was a twist for me! You did a great job personifying the candlestick. Nice use of very vivid language. I liked "drained in globs of epiglottal snot"!

A very clever idea from a 'who dun it' game. My favorite stanza was
" He once waxed hot........a snuffed out life".
Thanks for sharing, no suggestions

Many thanks for your kind review and comments, Judy. As always, much appreciated. It is sad that games like this have succumbed to the glitz of technology - leaving everyone the poorer. Best wishes, Tony
