Truly heartfelt and written with love. You described an eventual event for all of us eloquently. I have had many pass away in similar situations and although sad at the act of dying, happy that she passed into a greater happiness, loved ones around and her memory lives on.

Hi Chrissy, what a lovely free verse poem you have penned here. And what a lovely way to slip away. That's the way I would like to go. Just go to sleep. Well written with feeling, the poem flows freely and smoothly down the page. Thanks for sharing and warmest regards, Marijke :o)

This is so beautiful and so true in so many cases. I have seen it many times. It is wonderful to see the peace on someone's face rather than a grimace when they pass. I love the way you have penned this. Great job.

Comment from Kazzawin
Sensitively written.
Difficult subject, especially as it about a mother......as we all dread losing ours!
I think you have worked hard to create a caring and sensitive piece about a phenomenally hard time.
And the peace of it all is quite comforting actually!
Good luck in the contest. I think you could do well : )

I think this is the way we would all wish to go if we had to go. Unfortunately there are many cases where it doesn't happen like that, which is so unfair of death. Of course those left would cry . We who are left always do, we cry for ourselves, for our loss. Why cry for one whose end was a peaceful as this?
A beautifully composed piece of free verse commemorating a peaceful death.
