A very sad loss to the world of poets and poetry. I have reviewed some research that shows poets (even when suicide is eliminated from the statistics) die considerably younger than average people and even other types of writers. I was curious after several young Fanstory poets passed away very young a few years ago. As Billy Joel says, "Only the Good Die Young". You have done a lot of research on these poets. Good work, my friend~Debbie

Hi Debbie!
I've been enjoying all of the reading! :) I can only wonder what wonderful works Keats would have penned if he had lived a full life. I am honored and appreciative of the exceptional six shiny stars. :) Thank you so much!

This is a sublime example of an Ode of exultation!
And you have mirrored Keat's style beautifully, as well
as the message in the poem of his you have shown here.
Thus ye live on high, and then
On the earth ye live again;
Here, your earth-born souls still speak
To mortals, of their little week;
Clearly, you are deeply enamored of him :-)

Hi Leineco:
The inspiration for this ode is that he died at 25. It makes me wonder what fantastic works we have been cheated of, from him being taken in death so young. Thank you for this exquisite review. I love the lines you quoted back from his poem. Mirroring his style was my complete objective :) I appreciate all of your kind comments and the time you take to review.

I am afraid I am the wrong person to be reviewing this. The great romantics have never been my favourites. A wordy bunch in my view. So I will simply say you have done a great job here imitating a style of which I am not much enamoured.
That is more critical of myself than it is of you.

Hi Pantygynt:
It was you who told me to handle Keats kindly, thus, I did ;) Does that make me a great romantic? lol
I appreciate your review, you are nothing, if not candid in your replies, and I greatly admire that trait. :)
Any time you've told me that I've done a great job makes me smile.

I particularly loved the wording of the 4th stanza but this whole thing is one of my personal favorites so far. The writing was similar to Keat's poems-bet he would have been proud to include it. Great tribute and an enjoyable, vividly descriptive read.

Good morning!
I am so pleased that you enjoyed my Ode to Keats. (Especially to say that it was similar to his own poem.) That is exactly what I was going for when I was writing. Thank you for taking the time to read and comment. I especially appreciate hearing what you enjoyed the most.

Thank you so much, William.
I appreciate you taking the time to read and comment. I just couldn't help wondering what other writing he had to share, if only he had lived longer. Thanks for the kind words.

Hi, Kim.
Without wishing to sound patronising, your meter has improved in leaps and bounds here, though there are still quite a few 'bumpy' lines.
I don't recall reading Keats, or any of the other great published poets - literally just a couple of lines from Shakespeare, and I don't even recall them.
Vey poetic ode to a great talent 'taken in the fountain of his youth' by a God who 'wanted his muse', perhaps. With a bit of luck, maybe we'll now HEAR God showing off in his new voice - well, ANY voice would be fine. ;-)
Excellent.
Cheers, Ray xx

Hi Ray,
There is a poem by Keats in the Author notes :) Read away lol
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. The sign on the door didn't say Iambic... so I snuck in anyways ;) What a boring world it would be if all doors did. lol
Have a great day!

Excellent 'doors' point, Kim, but sometimes a handle is all that's required, rather than a combination. How's that for philosophy? Haha.
Ray xx
-
Then it would probably surprise you to know that we never even lock our door here lol
What does that do to philosophy? ;)
*Hugs*
Kim
My use of 'handle' was ambiguous to mean 'a general understanding', rather than having to know EVERYTHING about something (such as poetic meter) by requiring the 'combination' which could lead to perfection. xx
-
No wonder my brilliant poems aren't often understood. I sometimes feel my brilliance is wasted around here. Haha. xx
-
And my unlocked door was to help you think outside the box ;) Although, it is true... haven't locked the door here in over 22 years lol
It's ok, Ray... I do understand metaphor when I see it. You don't need to buy me any books ;)
Uh oh... What if perfection is living in a society where there are no locks required?
I think we're in trouble here lol
You do occasionally appear defensive when I mention your meter, Kim, so I won't mention it again.
No 'books' forthcoming, as pretend as you will, you didn't really get my metaphoric meanings, as otherwise, why your bitter-sounding reply about philosophy?
Anyway, I've nothing further to say at present.
xx

An excellent ode to John Keats. His life and poetry is impressive. We will never understand why God sometimes choose to take the young and talented to heaven.

Comment from Gloria ....
I'm really enjoying the theme of your book, Kim. An Ode to Keats couldn't be more appropriate as his Ode on a Grecian Urn was one of the first poems I memorized, kinda sorta. LOL.
And what a beautiful ode you have written to him. And only twenty five when he died. Can you imagine how his poetry would've ripened with age?
Super job with this and the author notes are an excellent addition too.

Hi Gloria,
And what a beautiful ode you have written to him. And only twenty five when he died. Can you imagine how his poetry would've ripened with age? You hit it spot on! :) Exactly why I wrote this piece. Imagine what we missed with his early passing.
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment, Gloria. I'm really enjoying my exploration of poets and styles, too.
I appreciate all of your wonderful thoughts!
