Your son Matthew was born in spring.
What a nice gift....the gift of life
in spring when so many things come to life.
It must have been a precious time.
This poem brought back memories.
I used to have a son named Matthew.
He was the twin of my son Michael.
Matthew Paul
Michael Andrew
and of course my older son (they were 20 months apart) Kristopher John
MY THREE SONS....wouldn't that make a neat tv show (chuckle chuckle)
they were supposed to be born late August
however they decided to come early...over 10 weeks early.
and at home in my bathroom
giving birth...twins....at home....with newspaper and no doctor and a la natural....that is something you will never forget....I can vouch for that.
Twins born two months early becoming the astrological sign of the twins.
I lost Matthew three months later.
Once in a Chinese Restaurant, after we were done eating, the waitress brought us fortune cookies. Michael grabbed one....he was the first to pick one out of all of them. Inside his fortune cookie were two fortunes....one for him and one for Matthew. I still have them both, 26 years later.
I put Matthew's pictures in an envelope and sealed them away and gave them to Michael when he was older and could understand.
Thanks for sharing.

Now I am the one who is crying. What a beautiful, heart felt story. You have told me more about yourself in these last few reviews than you have ever before. You must continue to write. I feel the love for your Matthew and I feel the pain of you having to go through that alone, with no one there on the day they were born. How did that happen? How did you do it? so much to learn about you and your life. You fascinate me.

Jusylee72,
This is a lovely poem you have written about your Springtime gift, Matthew.
I enjoyed your well formed lines with crisp imagery and occasional rhymes in this entry along with your tender memories conveyed so well...
"I saw his eyes and deep within
my spirit joined with his
This son that we named Matthew
was my special springtime gift"
Just beautiful!

Hello jusylee72, Your poem of remembrance is very lovely, sweet and heartfelt.
I especially liked:
I saw his eyes and deep within
my spirit joined with his
This son that we named Matthew
was my special springtime gift
(Matthew also means "Gift of God")
And:
and on my porch a Robin stood
and spring had come to town
(The joy that spring can bring)
A poem of joy. Keep the blue waters flowing. LateBloomer

Hi, A lovely optimistic poem, connecting the hope of a new son with the starting of Spring and its promise. I like:
'And silence rang through out the world
Snow falls in but a whisper'
With best wishes, Writeling

Very nice poem. I especially like the ending when you compared the coming of spring to bringing home Matthew. A feeling that I am sure only the love of having a child can bring.

A beautifully warm expression of love
told in words laced in artistic resonance
as they poetically glide down the page
in expressions of love on a Spring day
many years ago.
Well done and good luck

Such a handsome young man you have there! Happy Birthday Matthew!!
This is such a beautiful poem and such a great tribute to your son. There was one point when I would have said "Snow in April? At least make it believable." Then I moved to Chicago. We've had multiple snow days the last week. In any case, each stanza is perfectly laid out and the rhymes are great. I love that the Robin was your sign of spring. I wish you best of luck in the contest though I'm not sure you're going to need it! xoLeslie

Your poem about your son, Matthew, resonated with me because we have a Matthew, age 39. We almost lost him, due to complications form birth, but God had plans for him and be have been so blessed to have him in our lives.
