Far be it from me to hold back begrudgingly from a form which I don't care for... just because I don't care for it. LOL
But you have REALLY done this one proud. This is probably the nicest double etheree I've ever read (next the one in my contest you wrote, of course) lol
and I'm impressed with the flow of words throughout... and wow, even though the form isn't one of my favorites... I can tell it's one of yours. You've done it a great service, my dear friend.

By the way, i LOVE that last poem of hers in the author's notes. ;)

Hi Debbie,

I had difficulty finding much about her. The best lead I had was what I had referenced and that she'd published a chapbook, but it was in 1967, or so... and I think the Etheree style came about in the 70's. Let me know if you're able to find anything more. :)

Hi Kim. I enjoyed reading this Etheree. I often wondered how the form got its name and now I know. You have done a good job with this double Etheree, honoring our heroes. It looks like a simple form, but to get it to come out right, can be a little tricky. Marilyn

I thank you for the comments and suggestions. For the Etheree form the true blue line must have only 4 syllables, hence the reknowned true blue. I appreciate you taking the time to read and review.

Your taster is amazing!

Your poem has a distinct and somewhat solemn mood!
I very much loved these lines:
"Reinforced threads of steel -

Oh my goodness - there is so much to comment on here!

First - your poem
wonderfully said! Symbolically - the flag represents all that we
believe is the best of America. So too does it represent the sacrifices
our brave men have made to defend it. At first, I wanted
White stripes streaked with the salt of tears
to read "White stripes capped with the salt of tears", but then I
realized how important streaked was in the line!

Second - The information from Jim Wilson was fascinating! I have known
the name Taylor Armstrong a very long time - I always thought of her as
a well known and respected poet. . .it never dawned on me how little
about her was known! I was particularly struck by his proposal that haiku
was perhaps her gateway to syllable based poetry.

Third - WOW
Her poem "As It Stands" was amazing!

Hi LIJ:

I wondered if he meant T.S. Eliot, also, but it wasn't my quote, so I didn't feel right about changing it. I couldn't find a copy of her chapbook to verify. My goal this month is to feature different Poets and styles of Poetry in my NaPoWriMo book to celebrate National Poetry Writing Month. That is the reason for all of the author's notes :) Learning is a wonderful thing. Thanks for taking the time to read and comment.

This was a lovely poem with great description and I love the Etheree style. Not only a tribute to the poet but to the soldiers. The description of the stripes was genius -very effective as well as beautiful.
