Wow! I'm so disappointed to be giving this a FIVE star! But, alas, I have to review where and when I can. Right now, I'm waiting for my son and his significant other to awaken on this Saturday morning. ;)
And so, I'm attempting to 'give back' to the lovely NaPoWriMo writers who have so generously been supporting my work while I've been gone! Thank you so much.
This one is AMAZING! It's like.... how many poems in one? Wow! Great job! I HAVE to know, did you actually write each one of these in a day of April AND research them? If so, and with this great quality, why in heaven's name don't you write more during the year? WOW! Amazing.
I think you're a shoo in for the win, little lady! ;)
I love yours and Lorraine's especially... great stuff. ;)
Of course, I haven't been able to read them all, and I'm heading to Jyoti's soon to read hers. ;)
I love all the different information and yours will be like a mini-poetic-Wiki- information booth even when this contest is over... I'll be happy to peruse and come back to look. I didn't know anything about Shadow Poetry... thanks for the heads up. Some of my favorite parts were:
In April we celebrate fools
laced within poetry -
Surprise!
I'll be breaking all of the rules
scholars are teaching me --
Revise!
(loved that!)
The Essence:
~Essentially~
In essence, rhyme's absurd
in absence of right word.
(great wordplay!)
The Octelle
~Failing Memory~
By comparison, memory
fails when we become elderly;
while an elephant never
forgets, he will remember
each wrinkle marked on his skin,
be they from frowning or grin.
By comparison, memory
fails when we become elderly.
(so true!)
Can't wait to read all of them Kim!
Awesome job!
A virtual sixer for sure!

This was a very interesting and delightful set of short but meaningful poems in all of theses wonderful styles. They were all lovely but I particularly enjoyed the pictorial.

Hi frogbook,
Thank you for taking the time to read and review. I especially am enjoying the readers picking their favorites of the 8 and seeing how different people respond to the various styles. I wanted to pay tribute to a lady who has accomplished so much and given back so much to the art of poetry. Your comments are great!

OMG! I can't believe you did this! 8 poems! A complete taster and poetry tour! Wow! If I wasn't about to distribute my sixes for the Climate Change Free Verses, I would give this one!
Such a lovely, insightful and inspirational set of poems!
My favorite was your musette,
especially these lines
"Suppose
glasses tinted
sans rose,"
Deliciously worded poetry, Kim!
Thank you for this wonderful collection!

Hi Jyoti,
I am so happy that you enjoyed learning of Emily Romano and her created poetry styles. I'm having a lot of fun featuring a different poet each day. Even I don't know who is coming up next until it happens lol I should make a plan for the month, but I'm having fun with the spontaneity. Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. A virtual six makes me smile every time! :)
*hugs*

Hi Debbie,
I've seen some of these styles here on FS and I thought people might appreciate a bit of background. She invented 8 styles and that was surely worthy of a tribute for this contemporary poet. I'm really having fun going in depth on these poets and learning as I'm writing and sharing. I appreciate you taking the time to read and comment.

EIGHT!. . .seriously! Eight all at once (I think I'm out of
breath! LOL)
I think it makes wonderful sense to combine all these forms
into a single presentation to honor this prolific woman,
intertwined with their threads of connection - it's almost
like a quilt or tapestry memorializing her. :-)
I must say though, my absolute favorite of your examples
was the tableau! (wonderfully evocative)
With the essence being a close second. :-)

Hi Leineco!
Thank you for not being too overwhelmed by the 8 selections all at once lol I thought about splitting it into two, but it just made sense to me. I've seen some of the styles used here at FS and I thought it would be great to give some background and pay tribute to such an accomplished contemporary poet.
I appreciate you sharing your favorites from the selections. The tableau is my favorite, too. I enjoy that style.
This is a wonderful review. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

This is a considerable amount to digest in just one post, Kim.
Yet it appears to me, and based solely on what you have stated about each form, you have managed to do these inventive poetic forms of Emily Romano great justice.
Bravo...

Hi Dean,
I tried to simplify by color coding each type of her invented poetry. I've seen a few of these styles used on FanStory and I thought it would be nice to give some background and do a tribute to their inventor. Thanks for sticking with the length of the post and leaving your thoughts.

I enjoyed your poem [really multiple poems.] Each one is great is its own color. Thanks for the notes as they were very helpful. The picture is perfect for your poem. You give the reader a great deal to think about in this day when elephants are treated so inhumanely by poachers. Yes, elephants never forget. Your poem is amazing. Good job and thanks for sharing.

Hi Janny,
Thank you for taking the time to read and review. I'm happy that you enjoyed the 8 styles of Emily Romano. I've seen a few of the styles here on FanStory and thought that she deserved a tribute during Poetry Month.

Absolutely wonderful addition to your book of poets and poetry.
I love the divisions you made and the example of each using the same theme to honor the different creations of this fine poet.
Nicely done

Hi Barb,
Thank you for the generous six shiny stars. I'm happy that you enjoyed all of the styles of Emily Romano. I've seen some of the styles she created here on FanStory from time to time and thought people might like to know who created them. I appreciate you taking the time to read and review.

I had not come across this lady and half way through your note it did cross my mind that I was being led op the garden path into the elephant house. However a quick call to Mr Google put me right. If you do the same thing be sure to add "Poet" after her name otherwise you will clue up with the raving on Twitter of some bimbo who, I immediately assumed had found the elixire of youth. There was no way that was born in 1924.
But I digress. Using the tied themes of elephants and memory you take us on a tour of the more senior Emily's creations. There is a website with a section on "invented" poetry. Hmmm. Is there another kind. Someone "invented" the sonnet. I invented the Thanku. What is the difference? Before you answ 11 lines. Will Mr Petrarch kindly stop spinning in his grave.
I learnt a lot from this post. Unlike the elephant I shall probably forget most of it. To be honest it would have had more impact on me in two or three separate posts. That was a lot of short forms to throw at one at the same time.
A whiff of poetic grape-shot I thought.

Hi Pantygynt,
I am sitting here laughing at you stating half of the ideas that were in my head while I created that post. At first I thought, well, she had 8 brief styles, so break them in half. (I felt like just one style would be something of a cheat lol though, I don't know why. Even a haiku is a poem, right? As is a Thanku ;) ) Then I was thinking that there are so many poets I'll not get to anyways, and it will be even less if I dedicate more than one post to her. And, yes, when I googled her, I saw the bimbo pictures, too lol and my first thought was no way is that her. (And I wasn't even sure what year she was born at the time.) I'm still laughing at your comments here :) I'm either delirious from not sleeping or you are a humorous guy.
The best I can suggest is just add www.shadowpoetry.com to your favorites and you'll have a list of all those poetry types, "invented" and ummm... well yes, somebody DID invent them all, didn't they?
Thanks for the best review of the day! :)

Great minds think alike it seems. Separated by the breadth of the Atlantic Ocean and the broadest bit of the North American continent and we do the same things, gothe same places and even think the same thoughts. Now that is uncanny.
