My wife started menopause in her late thirties because she had her tubes tied at twenty. I've been down every road you mentioned. What a wonderfully written poem.
Congrats on the win!
Have a great day and God bless.

Thank you pappa55mike, for a great review and congratulations. Your poor wife! I'm glad she's well over the symptoms by now xoxo

Just loved this entry, I was one lucky man, my wife eased her way through menopause, she didn't have any of the normal symptoms, of what sounds horrific. A wonderful post, the great artwork set this well presented and lauded, was great, blessings Roy

A hilarious take on what it's like for us women going through menopause. I swear a lot of it is so true you must be looking through my windows! LOL Glad you shared with us so we can laugh at ourselves together!

Ah, a kindred spirit lol! I didn't suffer ALL of these symptoms, but about 95% I did. I took HRT for a while, but gained some weight which I didn't need, so stopped. And put up with the symptoms until they reduced. I still have some, five years after the onset, lucky me!!
Thanks for stopping by Patty, and yes, let's make fun of this stuff rather than cry lol!

Hey Gyp :-) 'Bout time I got off my lazy arse and read some of yours. This is awesome. How dare you make me laugh out loud before I have opened the bar. My God, it's only 10am here in Wait Awhile. Makes me grateful that I am not a woman. I am sure that I experienced male menopause and was extremely difficult at the time but I am in complete denial. Maybe early onset dementia. I can't remember. Enjoy your weekend - DJ

I always forget how far behind WA is to NSW. I had a girlfriend who posted there with the Navy, and I'd get home at midnight from going out and could call her, because it was still early evening there. A bit of trivial, useless information for ya!
Thanks for reviewing my menopausal rant. I think when men experience similar, they drive around in red cars that look like cockroaches, and date girls young enough to be their granddaughters.
You? DIFFICULT?? I think not...tee hee. Of course, I was the modicum of perfect behaviour during my hormonal assault. (Note that I was divorced by then). I got to spend the worst years of my ex husband's life with him, and he got to escape mine. Pfffftt...
I think I'm suffering early onset dementia now, truth be told. Or is it alcoholic dementia...not sure. But in approx three hours - or more if I wish to be acceptable - my bar will be open, fully stocked with....OMG! I haven't got any bottles on the fridge!!! Must go and do that immediately because I don't much enjoy warm wine.....
Thanks again for the review Deej, and I'm happy because I think I've added about 80c to your account lol. Or more.
Now where did I put those bottles..................................groan

Oh Gypsy, you hit it right on the head and had me laughing hysterically. I hit menopause at age 46. I had to leave home, check into a cheap motel with beer and potato chips until my newly prescribed hormones kicked in. My teenage daughter was afraid of me because I would sit on the sofa and growl like a wild animal. My emotions would swing every hour on the hour for 12 hours each day. For an hour I would laugh hysterically, then I would be so angry that I wanted to kill someone then I would cry for an hour about nothing. I couldn't stand myself! You are, indeed, a winner with this poem. Congratulations! livelylinda

You poor thing! I had a friend who suffered similarly to you, so she stomped in to the local Chemist and DEMANDED something for her symptoms so she wouldn't kill anyone lol!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review and six stars; I've added notes that explain that this is an old poem that has been re-written, with the original version winning the "I Am Not Perfect" contest a few years ago.
Glad you came out the other side!

Some suffer a lot, and others not so much. I got flushes, night sweats, low sodium, leg aches, aches in my feet...nearly all the symptoms described in the poem!
Thanks for stopping by!

This is Awesome writing. The culprit of menopause sadly I can relate ð???. Well put together for sure. When things go of the chart like temperature and temperament. Should brimstone turn Antarctic. These are menopausal events. Love the imagery listen buddy after the hot flashes I've been having this is like a resort ð???.

Haha, I used to work in a Hospital kitchen, and there were a few of us going through menopause at the same time. We used to fight over who'd go to the cool room or freezer to get stuff lol! It was our only relief on shift.
Thank you for your awesome review and comments!

You finally did what I thought was impossible - made me glad we live on separate continents! I suspect there were a few not quite natural disasters when you went through menopause.
This is very funny, and several lines had me laughing out loud (while cringing, of course). There are just a couple of places that I think could use a tiny bit of work (i.e., where the stress falls in the wrong place for the rhythm you set), but I can go over those with you privately. Overall, though, your poem is hysterical, and a worthy entry in "The Lighter Side of Things."

I actually went through menopause largely alone. I was single then, so at home I didn't have to worry about upsetting anyone, but at work I was a wee bit "colourful", to say the least! I'm still on the tail end of it, so I'm told, and am waiting for it to finally BEGONE!
Thanks for your comments my friend. I've tweaked this poem so much, I'm sick of the sight of it, but would appreciate any pointers where it may lack. I have to say though, that I am really pleased with how it turned out, after all that re-working!

It's definitely hysterically funny. I'll try to go through it later tonight or, more likely, tomorrow, just for a couple of points I think could use a little tweaking.

Wow, you sure covered the gamit of "The Change of Life" time. Where did that woman go who was so gentle, calm, cool and collected. The 'change' is drastic in some. I was not beset with all you speak of because I was working all through that time and had no time to complain. I did however have the hot flashes, the night sweats and a little insomnia.
You did a fantastic rendering here and congratulations on winning 1st prize which of course was well deserved.

I was a bit like you Ralf, because I was a single woman and working, while I suffered my symptoms. The worst, I think, was the pain in my lower legs and feet! My job entailed being on the damn things for 8 hours a day, and boy, it hurt. I also noticed a drop in energy levels, too, along with sweats and flushes.
Thanks so much for your review and comments! As always, they are very much appreciated xoxoxo
