Hi Vance. This is wonderful. It expressed fond thoughts of the city and focused on its charms. I like to write about the places I've visited, too. It's a personal snippet of what I liked (or not) about that place. After reading your theme song, now I want to go to Cincinnati! Marilyn

Hi Marilyn: I'm sure Cincinnati has changed quite a bit since I wrote this back in the 1970''s but I still go back there often and have many dear friends there. It has become somewhat "racially" challenged and lots of crime and dismay between the blacks and whites and police (mostly in one old section) but we are still deeply involved with the Cincinnati Ballet (the Lead Ballerina is here with us for Christmas in Las Vegas) but I still call it home and probably always will. Thanks again for your very kind review! Blessings! Vance

Hi Vance. So nice that the lead ballerina is your guest for Christmas. Lucky you. Yes, I do think large cities have a lot of problems. Not everyone is a responsible citizen. As for me, I lived in NY for many years. Now, happily, living in a tiny town. Marilyn

Having lived in Cincinnati I can relate to so many of the places mentioned in your song. It seems to fit the city. I would love to hear it put to music. I'm a mediocre musician and you are a professional, so my review is probably not helpful, but I liked the song.

This lyrical poem about Cincinatti has stood the test of time well in its description of the place and the hearts of the people. It could even have been written about my town, St. Paul, or almost any town along the Ohio and Mississippi rivers -the steamboats, the river bluffs, friendly people, a good place to raise children. Nicely expressed in flowing verse and rhyme.

I like your poem about Cincinnati and how the lifestyle is good for the young as well as the old.

It rhymes well and I like how you go from describing the city to living
in the city. I called it in my poem intermingling.

Good luck with your poem.

I have driven through the city you describe while young at heart. It easy to tell you love the place and it its beauty. The poem is good written by a fella smitten with the town for the young and the young of heart. All the Best

I love this poem. It describes vividly a place called Cincinnati, where once the writer stayed and resided in early childhood. The place as she recalls is teeming with beautiful scenes with the people so friendly. It is to the writer nostalgic, and I can feel the essence of what the author is saying. My sincere congratulations.

Well done with this one, you write your prose/poems in the same way, even now Vance. I need to rework some of my early work, now that I've learnt a little. Magnificent effort my friend, I've never been to Cincinnati my friend, blessings, Roy

I enjoyed this poem, I did feel that the "ev-ver-ee" was a bit awkward, just seemed out of place to me, maybe if there was more than just one word like that it wouldn't be as awkward for me. Just kind of took me out of the poem a bit.

Thanks Callie for you review and sorry I apparently did not make it clear this was not a POEM but a LYRIC from a song. My intention in breaking up the word 'EVERY' was to make it blend into the rhythm of the song while being read. I guess I should not have attempted to be that clever but thanks anyway for your review. HIS GRAYNESS

Sounds like Cincinnati is not for the elderly. I better warn anybody 65 or older that only the very young live there. Don't mind me, just playing around. It's very upbeat. Like these lines:

"Tall building rise like fingers reaching up to touch the sun
The river flows beneath where steamboat races still are run
And all around its seven hills are nature's works of art
It's Cincinnati...Cincinnati...a place for the young
The very young
And, the young at heart."

Here I can see a picture. Love the part about fingers reaching to touch the sun. I can also see this as a theme song for something taking place in Cincinnati. Great flow. Very smooth writing. Merry Christmas! Les
