Thanks, Fez. To be honest, I feel I used your style somewhat. You should recognize the blatant tongue-in-cheek/sarcasm, and the flow.
I'm glad you got to read it, and liked it!

Hahaha! I knew that. I think it's great.

The one I posted today "The Need To Read" will show you where I got the form that I use.

Oh, okay, that makes sense. I will have to look into his work.

Your poem is so well done, entertaining, interesting, amusing. Good theme throughout. Good rhyming. I can't point out any best lines because they are all "best." Good job. Marilyn/BeasPeas

Wait a minute! I thought Ralph was MY partner. I'm not dead yet, but I bet he wishes I was. I like your poem as the plot is clever, and clearly a true endeavor.
Good luck with the contest.

LOL! That is probably the way a lot of funerals are. I often wonder if they stay behind to listen to what we say. Well done on this one. It is a really good entry. Good luck! xsx Sandra

Thanks so much for the review and comments, Sandra. I often wonder the same thing at funerals! Too bad they can't have a microphone and tell what they think...

Very well done. Wouldn't it be interesting to be a by-stander at our own funeral, besides frustrating. Love the line,' Turn, if you will, to page 109, and sig "Shall we gather at the river."

Thank you so much for taking the time to review and comment. I often wonder what a person would think at their own funeral, so I went from there.

Thank you for the smile. It is a very well written and funny poem/ story. I can just imagine what (if the dead do hang around for their funerals) what they must think of what the speaking people say. Well written. Good luck in your contest. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you, Echo. I am silly that way, but sometimes I do wonder if they are there listening. Funny, but I did write it first as a story, and then looked at the prompt and realized it was supposed to be a poem, so I reconnected it. Thanks for taking the time to review!

You are welcome. I enjoyed it.

A very clever and creative tongue-in-cheek poem. I feel rather irreverent as I chuckle all through this funeral poem. Excellent aabb rhyme and good use of alliteration. I wish I had a sixth star left as this creation truly is deserving.
Blessings

This is an interesting post that the author has created with this piece of writing. This is a very unique way to look at the funeral of a person and I admire this perspective and I really enjoyed reading this rendition of the funeral rites.

Oh what wonderful gallows humour. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could all do that and look down on what we've left behind. Hey! You don't think do you that it really might be? I mean why not I could be couldn't it? OMG!

I would like to think we could. Not only could we be a prt of our biggest party, ever, but we could see relatives we haven't seen in years!
-
We just might be surprised at what they said!
-
True, and maybe not pleased.
