Aw, I'm so glad to hear that Spot isn't dead.
:)
I've lost too many dogs from old age (in my old age)
lol
This was delightful, though I did have to take my 12 yr old
mini schnauzer to the vet today... she has pancreatitis, kidney stones,
and a liver imbalance... not to mention she's losing her eyesight and her
hearing. It's so sad to see them start to age...
but... she's pretty frisky, and has always been at a really good weight.
And she's a curmudgeon. :)
So... there's that.
;)
I enjoyed this.

Ha, yet more parallels! Bella (the "Spot" in my poem) went back to the vet yesterday to have her stitches out after an operation to remove a number of (thankfully benign) lumps - one of which was very large, and causing her some trouble. She is 10, and she had pancreatitis many years ago, and had an operation to remove some or all of it (can't recall which, or even if it's possible to take the whole thing). I was very saddened too, on our latest visit when the vet said her eyes were starting to cloud over - she still behaves like a puppy (hence the stealing anything that isn't nailed down). Just so you know, she is extremely loved, and nothing bad would ever happen to her if we can help it. As I write this she is curled up on the sofa beside me, oblivious to the world, and looking angelic. How appearances can deceive.
Hope your schnauzer is with you for some good time to come.
Thanks (again) for the kind review :)

Craig, I never thought otherwise, our dogs are our little companions... I have two, myself... The one I spoke of, her name is Stormy, and a tiny little four pounder who thinks he's a Rottie... Sir Clyde, he's a Yorkie. LOL (I completely understand about looks being deceiving... he actually looks like an entire dog!) lol

haha Sir Clyde - love it!

Four pounds of attitude! lol
Six years old and WAY too fierce for his own good.

It's too bad her name isn't actually Spot... I've always wanted to name one Spot... and then when you want to put them out... you just say, "Out! Out! Damn Spot!"... (yeah... i got nuthin) lol

Thanks for liking my poem :-) I have only just really taken up this addictive little hobby, and found my first couple of efforts were a bit dark and serious.... had to lighten up a bit!

You followed the contest rules and you added some humor. Your artwork choice enhanced your written words. I enjoyed reading this short work of art.

I didn't actually put this in the contest (I hope!) - it's just a practice, as I've never written one before. But thank you for appreciating it, and for your kind words :-)
