You need "posse is..." to keep the rhythm right.
I like the stanza when he is riding into town. It provokes a visual and auditory image to emerge.
Raven hair "sets"
The Gunsmoke episodes hold nothing to your poem.
Well written!

This was seriously the most entertaining poem I've read on this site! The picture of the horse caught my eye, being an animal lover and a country girl, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover the setting was the Wild West, another favorite of mine. The flow was perfect, the thrill and then the calm and then the thrill and the calm again; I love how it went back and forth like that. Like the character was addicted to excitement and he had to get his fixes until, like any addiction, it caught up with him. I love it! Let me know if there's a part 2 or if you write another Wild West piece. Thanks!

Brings back memories of the late, great Marty Robbins -- with a teardrop in his voice. He was my all-time favorite country singer. You've penned a beautiful ballad.

This is a nice western poem that makes you think about cowboys on TV but
YOU MADE A SERIOUS POINT- it is about the Old West. These memories you want to keep.
Your poem has good rhythm and clear to follow. One step after the other.
Good luck with your poem.

This meets the contest requirements nicely. You deliver a thoroughly engaging story of the typical badlands criminal with stunning imagery and graceful meter. I wish you all the best in the voting and thank you for sharing it.

Well, I have never heard anyone wanting to be hung!!! LOL, I hope you don't really experience it. You have a very well written poem about an event that as far as history tells, was a common event back in those days. Good luck in the contest. :) Sandra

Sadism finds the wild west
Thank God there were so few deaths
To kill the first was understood
But the slit of the throat of the dancing girl
So the gallows were too good for this
The sadist found the end to this
Well the old west did find justice quick
When the sadist came to meet the test

Great rhyme and smooth meter depicts the life of a sociopath written in first person. The ending depicts his demise with the same emotional detachment he had during his crimes. Well done.

This is a neat little poem that puts the homicidal narrator behind the gun, at the throat of the hooker, and at the end of the hangman's noose. Fun romp through the genre.

This is super excellent. I like the story that goes with the poem and how you carry it to the very end!. You have described things so well and given this the "flavor" of the old west. Excellent Job!
