YEP! This is a sound piece of advice for sure. I always thought the caveat should be added that it applies only when dealing with the confidence challenged as they will be the first ones to blame the giver for their own lack of decisiveness. My dad was a man of few words but when he spoke, he was listened to. He also instilled in me a love of reading and education to which I am forever grateful.

My dad wasn't too hot on that, but then when you are brought up in a society torn apart by religion, which pervades every aspect of life, culture, heritage, education and politics, it kinda takes the shine off things!

I'm sure I have some bite marks on my backside to attest to that one. Great piece of advice. I was always told when someone asked for advice, turn it around and ask what they think or feel about the topic or decision in question. Eventually, it is their own thoughts that prevail and you will come out of it as a great listener.
